hi,

I see so many chinese cars MG cars, but I am wondering, is it only because they are cheap ? People have no interest in quality ?

Also the world complaining about the chinese leadership selling everything to the rest of the world, but then they buy chinese cars when EU cars or even Japanese are so much better ?

This world is weird...

China is taking over as the manufacturing hub of the world and there is nothing to stop it as, at the end of the day, people want cheap stuff - and it's not necessarily poor quality.

Based on the way they drive, I assume they're upgrading from scooters.

I wonder if they have the same two speed gear box as most Thai cars?........extremely slow and extremely fast with nothing, it seems, between the two.

SAIC is the second largest Chinese automaker.  China rocks.  Only have 25k kms on mine, but quite like it.

I buy best product at the best price, and MG ticked both those boxes.  Assemble in Thailand, so 'buy Thai'...employs Thais, supports my now 'home' economy, & avoid silly import tax ... WIN WIN for EVERYONE.

If you're going to avoid buying anything Made in China ... good luck with that.

I would assume that even the "cheap" cars are rather expensive for most

I think people do like cheap quality.

Go an examine an MG vehicle and drive it and then give an opinion not just wild actuation's.

As a lover of high quality, I had the choice of a Bentley or a Rolls Royce,

But I didn't have any money, so it down to a £60 banger which is

loveable, and still goes. Never mind quality feel the economy.

Had a similar choice....but the RR is not a car you drive yourself, you have to be chauffeured .......so I went for the Bentley.......it was then that I woke up.

MG cars. Designed in the UK (Longbridge) to the latest European/UK safety standards. Built in Thailand, a country with a good reputation for build quality.

What's your problem @leba?

Every time a new country enters the market the dinosaurs tell us their product is cheap <deleted>.

China has the biggest motor industry in the world and builds some of the highest quality products in ANY field..... cars are no exception... and in the next years or rather months they will be keading the world in electric cars.

Meanwhile peooke like Brexiteers are withdrawing from the world market and complain about China

They are not cheap

China makes everything , from cheapest <deleted> to highest quality  , and everything in the middle . If you think MG is too mediocre for you try Polestar , yes thats Chinese made . Even Tesla is manufacturing cars in China .

"western developed" countries decided that manufacturing is nothing for them , and let all companies go to China , which China gladly accepted . Do not complain after , since all countries did it . They wanted to school people for sitting behind the desk , instead of having quality technical persons . In some countries now they are the highest paid jobs already since many people don't even know how to change lightbulbs anymore .

China does have huge resources , and just does make everything , and that means yes from supercheap <deleted> which lasts 1 day if you are lucky , to highest end stuff , but you will pay for that also .

I like many want reliability with economy rather than quality when buying vehicles.

Price a top line MG SUV

Compare with a Fortuner or MU-X

Not that much cheaper, and the reliability comes into play too.

Which in the long term is unknown.

I remember in the seventies people calling Japanese cars "Rice burners" and laughing at them, They even had Japanese car bashing events, where the buy American crowd would bash Japanese cars with baseball bats.

A few years later all these same people were driving Japanese cars.

You seem to be stuck on this. Many of us make informed, logical, decisions on purchases of all sorts and do not make "country if origin" our only, or even main, criterium.
