Wonder how long the UK will remain on the safe list? Deaths per day heading towards 200, the Govt warning of 100,000 cases per day soon and hospitals already saying they're under serious pressure with the increased case load.

  • Clear as mud as always, when they issue new regulations...  - what about the previous 100K and specifically mention of Covid inclusion? - what about the in-country PCR test within 24 hours?

Yet again a contradictary statement to match the others issued, you really do need a shaman to interpret what amount of hoops you need get through and the requirements of each hoop. Best of luck to those who are wanting to figure it all out.

Let's play how many negative dramatic adjectives we can squeeze into a few short sentences.  ????

Did some Thai guy steal your wife and dog?  All you ever do on here is try to paint Thailand as negatively as possible.  What do you think you are accomplishing exactly?

I think he's from Texas, you know, where you play most of their songs backwards and you get your truck back, your dog back, your house back, your wife back (in that order of importance), etc...

Its just more of the usual <deleted>, with nothing made clear and nothing that the Thais will be capable of managing.

Just as an aside the government decided to cancel the public holiday in Eastern Thailand. You got to love these people, they really raise the bar every time. They got time to worry about cancelling holidays ????

Well, rule number one actually reads:

One night quarantine, which we call "waiting for the PCR-results" in an overpriced hotel, where you will be served outpriced crappy cold food in plastic containers - at your expense!

So we will see, when those one million foreigners, sinking 75,000 Baht each, will arrive to witness the little New Year's Eve bash so kindly organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand at the steal (pun intended) price of only 200 million Baht!

I thought the PCR-RT test had to be done 72hrs prior to departure, not arrival.  For those taking long flights, this could be a bit of a problem.

Lose what exactly?

As far as international travel is concerned it is a global reset.

The old days have been consigned to the history books, time people accepted reality and move on.

What happens if you don't have a smart phone.?

They escort you to duty free and make you purchase a high-end  iPhone with an overpriced 12 month call and data contract.

Where did you go to get one, I will do it in person if there are none of the ridiculous paperwork the App is asking for as well as the e-mail I received.

Where are you based?

I got mine in Buriram immediately after my second jab on Monday.

The passports are issued by the Department of Disease Control. Nonthaburi is the main office I believe; there is an office in Naklua but I understand that there an appointment backlog.

Still too many hoops and far too many things that will be interpreted differently by different people at the various ports of entry which makes it open to abuse. Once you land they have you by the short and curlys.  I’ll watch, wait and see thanks.

I guess there will be a lot of people booking their winter holidays somewhere other than Thailand after rolling this info out.

I think it will help those that want to get back to family though.

lose tourist numbers that's what,  in turn lose $$$ ... that's what.     tourists are now looking elsewhere.

Folks don't need a COE to go to Vanuatu or Vietnam ....  they don't need a smartphone app to go to Singapore,  they don't need a $50,000 covid insurance policy to go to the Maldives.

get what I mean  ?

There's 2 PCR tests to negotiate. One in the 72 hours before you fly and one on the day of arrival.

Not really required for double vaccinated tourists imho.

Conditon 3 says PCR within 72 hours before arrival not before you fly (and then also one on arrival)

- what about the in-country PCR test within 24 hours? Can tourists do it themselves?

- what about the "must be contactable", i.e. the 1-day quarantine?

- where to find the list of countries and how many times per day will they change it?

!00k old requirement this is new, thats why you have to have hotel reservation, test do it yourself not likely, list of countries posted a week ago

double vax certificate, 1 x test at the airport and a passport should be adequate.

Not according to the barrel of primates they call a government here, soon we will see TAT coming out with a tourists arrival "prediction" into the millions...

Not if you stay in Scotland or similarly freezing country.

Double vacced people can still catch Covid on the plane.

Does the $50,000 health insurance have to cover Covid-19?

From all the travel insurance I talked to, Covid is considered a covered medical condition now. No insurance explicitly excludes it.

What you need to worry about is if it covers asymptomatic Covid hospitalization. This is not specically required to enter, but your insurance might not pay for it. I know some Thai insurance doesn’t cover it, but when I asked foreign travel insurance, most said, as long as it is “medically necessary” and the doctor says so, it is covered.

It is best to ask your specific insurer.

FYI, travel insurance is pretty cheap. Around $50 for 30 days. It also covers flight delays, baggage lost, hotel cancellation, etc. It is well worth to get it you travel anyway. Keep in mind the more expensive Thai insurance usually doesn’t cover all this.

Inter-Provincial movement and travel has been open to most of the upcountry regions for months -

Why? Because of the very low infection rate and most continue to observe protocol.

Why, because it's impossible to police.

Many Thais haven't been vaccinated yet they are roaming throughout Thailand unchecked when it comes to allowing foreigner who are most likely all vaccinated have to continue with all these restrictions it just continues to double, triple down how these leaders have made Thailand not the Land of Smiles but the Land of Stupid!

How do you know if the Thais travelling domestically are not vaccinated?

Of course foreigners who are on tourist visa should be grilled when travelling.

New government model: Just in time policy making.

It is funny that most of SEA is not even open yet, but now that Thailand announced it, other countries are jumping the gun and planning their own reopening. Many think that they will be reopened with no restrictions like prepandemic days, but I think that is being delusional. It remains to be seen what their restrictions will be.

Pretty easy to figure out the top 10 list to get no quarantine.

The already stated China, US, UK, Singapore and Germany are all on the list of top number of tourists pre-covid. The question is, which of these high tourist countries will miss out to make it a list of 10

I'm guessing the other five may likely be Japan, Russia, South Korea, India and Australia

At the moment, China still does not let its own citizen to leave the country and they are not issuing passports for tourism purpose.

.malaysia is talking about reopening soon , unclear yet  if they will have as many ,"lets ripoff the

 tourists" requirements

as Thailand but hard to believe they can be as bad

Also malaysia offers free pfizer even to foriengers. So if i cant get mordorna next month i will go to malaysia for a 1 month vaccine run to get pfizer

I have a house in Hua Hin...why do I need proof of a hotel reservation beyond the 1 day required in order to receive the results of the arrival RT-PCR Test?  Also, What kind of Visa's are available to make use this new entry process?
