Last week it was 200 million and a done deal.

Must have cut back on the "planned benefits".

I have to say it is jolly inspiring to see the "upper echelons" of society sharing the "Covid pain"!

He insisted that the project is worth the investment, estimated at about 200 million baht in total, adding that it will help to boost the economy and the flagging tourism sector.

I really doubt it will.

Sage idea but how much really, really of the 100 million will be spent on those event do you think? you seems to forget that in this country nothing is happening without someone putting something in their pockets...

"in this country nothing is happening without someone putting something in their pockets..." I thought you were talking about Britain for a moment!

So there is a 50% discount?

Or is the other 100 mm baht coming from somewhere else?

Going to straight to YG entertainment with a big brown envelope upon contract signing.

going on the 30% rule that means someone will pocket a goodly amount for doing it, anything to boost their personal accounts, why do something for the general population when you can pocket millions for doing this sort of thing

In the case of this particular project perhaps 30% is a conservative estimate!

Filed under "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse."  Who benefits by shelling out the equivalent of $3+ million USD of taxpayer money to two entertainment personas?  Thailand should leave entertainment to the private sector.

If they put up a collection box and all cabinet members turn out their pockets and donate their loose change, I’m sure they will be able to raise 100 million baht, if not more.

Here's a novel idea, use the 100 million baht for free 1 day hotel and tests for incoming tourists !

Or give it to the suffering and forgotten places like Issan and it will get shared around

How long will Lisa and Andrea have to stay in ASQ hotels?  Will they have to pay for their own virus tests?  AND... What will happen to them if they happen to test positive! ????

The captive bolt gun for sure.....

Bloomin bizarre as always.

Half of Thailand has never heard of Andrea Bocelli and the other half think he is an Italian footballer or Andrea is a woman.

Seriously, you can count the number of opera lovers in Thailand on one finger, let alone a hand.

Agree , but it is not Thais the tourist commission  wish to entertain .

Surely Russell Crowe can sing and dance a bit, and he's already in town.

Yep Russell Crowe sure can sing and play guitar (another plus)

He used to have a quite successful rock band in New Zealand in his youth before becoming an international star and also had one in the USA

Russ Le Roq was his stage name

He may also have had one in Australia where he first made his mark in movies

Great worker and always ambitious

Doesn't Thailand have entertainment promoters. Why is the Government getting involved in the entertainment industry or is it just a profit opportunity for certain gov't officials to get a New Year bonus?.

There are some very talented people within the govt who are able to clean up the floor from any debris ie money very quickly....so fast it is gone in the blink of an eye

My Thai Lady is normally minimally political but is outraged. She suggested that the money be used to bring western vaccines to the rank and file Thai citizens. I strongly suspect she's not alone in this obvious conclusion.

Once again the government doesn't fail to do precisely the wrong thing at the wrong time.

I would rather see 100 million being given to a good cause to help those that have suffered.

Gov was going to spend 2.25 Billion baht on submarines last year.  Shelved because of public outcry, but still under consideration.

Maybe we can save the 100 million if there is enough outcry

Peace

Thailand late to the pass as usual and making announcements before they should

YG Entertainment confirms Lisa will not be able to attend the countdown event in Thailand.

As I said in an earlier post, lips moving and talking trash before they even checked and could make it happen. Most entertainers are booked up to a year in advance for these types of shows.

So it's like the vaccine. Big announcements, big imaginations.

Is moderna still on for November 5th?
