How many Thai women did you "date" before you decided "this is the one"?

Featured Replies

I like the "How did you meet your wife? First words?" thread.

It seems there are lots of guys who didn't do much "dating" (for a drink or an hour an evening or a night).

Personally I think I was pretty sure that my one is the one for me because I met many other Thai girls before her.

I met her after I was living for about one year in Thailand and after I had drinks with hundreds or maybe even 1000 girls. And as far as I remember I didn't sleep many nights alone. This time of discovery gave me a good idea what I want and what's available.

So how about you: How many Thai women did you "date" before you decided "this is the one"?

And when you met your current (long term) gf/wife did you know that she is the one and only?

I knew my Thai wife now of 6 years was the one as she was the opposite of my first Thai wife or 2 years ! I even agreed to marry her before I met her in the real world and married her 3 weeks after meeting her at the airport. We had a great connection, and years later and a kiddie it proved a good match.

As for dating other Thai women, I did not do much dating between my first thai marriage and my second one , gap of about 8 years, but one hell of a lot of candy was sampled in the sweep shops and some of that candy sure was expensive for 1 meal

I am the same as RichardColeman, choosing my second long term girl friend as being the opposite of my first Thai wife. The process is ongoing but I think I have found a good one.

I understand that there are a few differences from one to another. But if the second one is the opposite in many ways then I worry what the third one will be. Same as the first one?

There will be no third if the second doesnt work Ill stick to casual dating. But what I meant was I aim to learn from experience, age and avoid the problems that caused the first to fail.

Had "encounters" with a few, but only really dated one, that went on for over year and ended over what I later realised was a total misunderstanding.

Wife was number 2, didnt know she was "the one" we just kinda get along  and the years have rolled by ????

I'd dated Thai & Filipina ladies in the US, then ended up living with a Thai lady for 3 years there.....That was a great "boot camp" being immersed with everything Thai - including trips to Thailand....Was even involved in evaluating the possible relocation of Thai town.....

After deciding to, and moving here I decided that I'd know, date somebody for 2 years before deciding about the future.....

Dated around, having fun and learning - getting the lay of the land....Different than the US / Thai bubble society I'd been in....

Finally ended up meeting my now wife - who ended up being the mythical Uni grad, management in a international company 17 years, owned her own townhouse & car + head turning beautiful - originally from a small agricultural/farm community in central TH = and never looked back.....Initially an English barrier; but it didn't take long....She was semi ok with written English instructions through work, which she relayed in Thai to her subordinates = spoken English took a few months time....

I've never been unhappy with my choice....

I dated 5 or 6 ladyboys before I married my Thai wife

IMO it's just luck if we meet a good un or a bad un. I remember the time I first met my wife to be as if it were yesterday- that cursed day. Had I looked the other way I'd have been spared a lot of pain and despair.

IMO "dating" is the way to go and the way to stay.

One back in Oz if that counts, I went to Thailand with her for a holiday (no red light districts) she was insecure and jealous, was previously married to an Ozzie for 10 years, I saw her for two years causally then decided game over.

Then I came to Thailand for a holiday with my mate and met my wife in a bar, I knew this girl, or bargirl if you like was for me, it just hit me like a tonne of bricks.

I came back 6 weeks later, met the family then took her back to Oz on a 3 month tourist visa, after 2 months, I asked her if she wanted to stay longer, she said, "up to you" I said, no, I am asking you, ok, yes, up to you she said again, so I rang immigration to renew her tourist visa for another 3 months and they said, nope you can't, she has to go back and reapply after 6 months.

I said there has to be another way, that is when the guy on the phone said, what are your intentions, I said what do you mean, he said would you marry her in the future and I said I would marry her today if that meant she could stay, he said then do that and apply for a bridging visa, I thanked him, called the wedding registrar and said when is your next available date for me to marry my g/f, he said this Friday, it was Monday and I said, hang on a minute, then I yelled out the g/f who was ironing at the other end of the room and said, honey what are you doing on Friday, she looked at me as if to say der, so I said then were getting married on Friday, she said, "up to you", that was my proposal 15 years ago, yeh, I'm a true romantic ????

"Date" 555! :cheesy:

Many "dates" were exactly as quoted...plural. Literally lost count before the year 2000 and didn't meet "The One" until 2011.

LOTS with zero regrets, nor excuses. ????

No thanks I’m only interested in casual dating the last one was 3 months before she started showing her true colours

She multi-tasks too.

On a more serious note, the girl doesn't stop from when she wakes up which is around 6am till when she sleeps which is past midnight. I wonder where she gets her energy, might have to do with all of the kids we have, she is also a fantastic cook and a fire cracker in bed, ok, I better stop there, as they say jealousy has no boundaries ????

Mate, we are living in [deleted] paradise. As such, how can there possibly ever be a “this is the one” when at a smorgasbord?!

Now the question is obviously if all Thais are worse than an inflatable or only the two Thais you chose.

You obviously didn't meet the one until now. It happens!
