  • Amazing Thailand. You don't disappoint with the ever more ridiculous. If you come here as a tourist you probably do need an ambulance, but the destination should be the mental hospital.

so tourists only get swabbed?

seriously?

thats going to go down well on social media ????????

I guess only tourists whose last Covid vaccine shot was six months or more ago. If your last Covid shot was less than six months ago….your good.

Nice to see the opening going along smoothly......at some point a foreigner is going to be required to do something  covid-19  related that he or she doesn't agree with then the poo will hit the fan!

The GF heard this and stated "What the hell are they thinking". "Might as well start testing at Makro, and entrance to the parks"

That's what they have been doing in the west. Testing everywhere, what's the big deal?

All the weird stuff is starting to come out, I also noticed in the Thai certificate app that there actually is a pre-set expiry date for my double vaccination already. So they actually thought about this upfront and never told us, but the plan clearly is endless booster shots and tests.

If they think I am going to do a test once it has been 6-7 months ago since I received my 2nd shot, they are really insane. I'd rather boycot such places and watch them go bankrupt with pleasure.

An ambulance is on hand to take them away if they turn out to be positive

That right there is why nobody should step foot in Thailand until this is all ends.

If it never ends then never come back.

How can they differentiate between a foreign resident and a foreign tourist.
Bit uncomfortable trying to enjoy yourself after having a swab poked up your nose.

Random testing and being whisked away by an ambulance.  Finally, the last nail in the tourist coffin.

Will the people checking documents be trained to know which are valid, from all 63 countries?

Just Thailand being Thailand..

Any and every opportunity to charge people even better extort you once you "supposedly" test positive..

"You test bad...you pay now you go ambulance you pay hospital or you not get passport back go to jail..."

I wonder where the Khao San Road Traders Asssociation gets the authority to stop passers-by on a public street, force a medical test on them and then demand that they're taken away in an ambulance for the "wrong" result?    I'd suggest nowhere and that they should all be told to duck off!

How do you think on crowded places that will help when they all flock together waiting for 15 minutes ......  without enough distance?  What a joke ! The guy that cames up with this idea must be completely ..........?

If foreigners have been vaccinated six months ago they will have to take a 100 baht swab test and wait.

Nuff said......

It really sounds like a good thing IF they don't want tourist. Word of mouth about these new things coming up each day will keep people at home in their own country.

It isn't just Thailand. In Austria they have announced a lockdown for anyone not vaccinated and declared that this is the least of their measures. What is next sounds like it could be really scary.

In Austria that's probably mandated by the government, not by a bunch of nobodies in a home-made trader's association!

So you're saying the title is clickbait?

From my experience, if you claim that a headline on this site is click bait then you get banned from posting. It's simply a misunderstanding and poor translation. What it meant to say is Khao San Road visitors must take 100 baht swab tests. Perhaps they'll correct their misunderstanding.

Noo... not the CB word !!!....  attention grabbing headlines which encourage more readers, no, its not that..its definitely just an innocent ‘lost in translation’ and the article really meant ‘people’ not ‘foreigners’....

Unless of course they really are ONLY forcing foreigners to take an Antigen test and charging them 100 baht for the privilege ?... is this really the case ??

We’ve all read of the foreigners who claim the Police only targetted foreigners not wearing helmets (which is possibly true in very touristy areas), where as in Bangkok I always see ‘everyone getting away with everything’ then at a Check-point a load of Thai’s and the odd foreigner here or there being checked.

I guess mileage differs - I can definitely a scenario whereby only foreigners are stopped, we’ve all witnessed behaviour such as this which is extremely clumsy from a ignorance and xenophobia aspect, meanwhile we have also all witnessed someone over reacting and crying racism or reports which distort and inflame ‘activities’ and ‘events’ or ‘issues’ to draw attention.

May be an idea for everyone to carry a couple of ATK kits to reciprocate the tests on any authoritative bozo that demands they test the public..."you can do me if I can do you"!

So many posting on this thread have missed reading this:

I'm sure that's coming at some point after the shots are deemed to have 'worn off' - don't rule anything out.

There could be random spot tests in the streets / roadblocks.

Does this mean that the 'Fully Vaccinated' Certificate I bought in KSR is now unacceptable?

Precisely, this is a trader's association, not the health ministry or the CCSA so legally they have no right to do any testing on you without your consent. And as for chucking you in an ambulance and off to a "kickbacks" hospital of their choosing, that would basically be kidnapping.

Why? shouldn't be surprise to anyone the leaders of this country teaches and sprout this nonsense day in day out and it rubs off!

No matter how much they preach we are all equal there is NO discrimination when they open their mouth each morning there you go!

When they announced " Thailand Pass "  I remind everyone to think hard there is meaning behind all these catch phrases in this particular case reason for everyone around the world to just PASS on Thailand, it is today a colony of China!  Covid Plus?  What next are they going to double down on their their Land of Stupidity? ????

If only the decision-makers would charge 1,000 baht they’d exclude the πολλοι - hoi polloi - myself included, and could have the place entirely to themselves.

Personally I never did much like the Khao San Road. But there were some useful places in the neighbourhood ; and my favourite, simple, friendly, family-owned hotel not far away.

I assume it refers to Thais that haven't been double vaccinated, because in the OP, it said foreigners whose vaccinations are over 6 months old, meaning Thais who're double-jabbed, regardless of the dates are ok. That's the way I figure it anyway.
