In whose world?

World class for fun! The figures prove it! But the dull, pious baby makers hate it and use the term 'world class' as mockery to somehow enlighten their dull grey world. The drabs have won. Pattaya is finished. And Thailand is a worse place for it. The irrepressible fun and freedom of Pattaya was always a threat to authorities and Covid-19 has been used to destroy it.

People have been saying that for about as long as they've been saying Nana Plaza will be turned into a mall or carpark! ????

It used to be a car park with bars.

Then, the total deterioration of the business fronts, wiring, dug up streets/sidewalks, and exposed interiors is horrific.

It truly looks like a major slum area rats running around and places unkempt everywhere.

"World class"

There is nothing world class about illegal prostitution, that's only world class hypocrisy. There is a lot of fun to be had in Thailand, but not in Pattaya, that business was just an embarrassment, never a threat.

' world class resort '

you have got to be joking     !!

If you stay in a place like Centara Grand Mirage, you are staying at a world class resort.  Several others around as well.  Point is some people go to places that are all inclusive or just do not travel very far, so only know what they see at and from the resort.

I had not been down there for about a month, but today I walked WS.

I have no idea how they can open anything there without time and some major work.

First, the entire street has loose tiles everywhere I was lucky not to twist an ankle.  No way any amount of people can walk it safely.

Then, the total deterioration of the business fronts, wiring, dug up streets/sidewalks, and exposed interiors is horrific.

It truly looks like a major slum area rats running around and places unkempt everywhere.

Several months at the minimum if they wanted to open it safely with some semblance of appeal.

So, these people seemed to have cared less about their businesses and the environment over time.

Yes, it has been difficult but some minimal upkeep or organized care you would think should have been in order.

The entire place is a shameful disaster good luck now, they think they can open up these places to who and for what?

It's always been like that. We should be tucked up in the the rack before full daylight.

That was their plan all along, before the coup even. Destroy it and turn it into a staid family resort. Same for all Thailand. The protests will achieve nothing.

Just my opinion, what are they going to do if everyone just open up!  There isn't enough manpower to stop it from happening the reason the boys in BIB and the government leaders will be too <deleted> face themselves to know what to do? Lets party open and have a blast but of course wear a mask!????

The police will selectively go to the places they chose, check paperwork, and if they are in default, told to close, issued a fine and reported, with a possible loss of licences.

I've seen it all before. Singapore early 70s was "fun", but they closed the "fun" late 70s and it got so boring and sterile that tourists stopped going there. Bugis Street was replaced by yet another boring restaurant street and shopping.

Perhaps Walking Street will be like Patpong and turn into a hub of bag shops with a horrid night market.
