Amusing assumption to say the least

Not sure about the assumption bit.

The other day I was watching an "American youtuber" lets just say he's located in Florida area and does a lot of sport fishing.

Mid 2021 he was all over the place, doing his filming while doing his "thing".

Meeting people, going out and never a mask in sight.

He caught Covid, isolated at home with his wife and two young daughters.. they were lucky with mild doses while it sat him on his ar#e, respiratory issues and lack of strength.

From his bed he told all his subscribers how sick he was, and how he was fighting it.

When given the all clear and after a month of getting his strength back... he was back to his old ways.

First youtube was a trip to Indianapolis raceway, to watch drag racing... Not a mask in sight.

Did he learn anything... nah

His younger brother is also a youtuber the same with his girlfriend.. same mentality.

Never a mask in sight.

  • He's not a doctor, he's a retired nursing teacher.  His videos are good, but he is not saying this pandemic is going to end.  Don't post misinformation.  It helps no one.

  • what part of "may well mean" don't you understand? Anyway, what's wrong with hope and optimism? The pandemic will end one day and for the past year and a half professionals have been saying the way it

I take it you get all your information from main steam media then, wake up, YouTube has some incredible highly qualified professionals who call a spade a spade without creating fear which is what main stream media is doing.

I don't get all my info from MSM.  YouTube is a terrible source for info.  If credible, there's a link to a credible website.  People who blast MSM normally fall for conspiracy theories.

I'm guessing you didn't research the credibility of the person who did the post.  Figures.

How about twitter?

I know. You could go on all day re the hypocrisies of some of the posts but in the interests of keeping it on topic it’s sometimes best to ignore.

Im not sure why some people can’t be honest and say they choose their content that suits their narrative rather than some lame reasoning when it don’t suit and dig themselves a hole.

This variant was found in 30 odd countries at the same time, so suggets that it has been around a long time but as it causes very few deaths its not been of any importance.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Scare mongering tactics just so they can inforce more ridiculous rules

I've not seen anyone post here they don't want this virus to end.  Just trolling on your part.  And I've not seen any expert say this virus is mutating into something that won't kill us.  Other than some dodgy youtube videos.

I never said some people on this site, I said some people. Now if the shoe fits wear it.

Here we go again! ????????????

Let the media fueled fear mongering, unnecessary lockdowns and restrictions begin. Having deja vu all over again!

:cheesy:

An expert with data working for the Financial Times.  Quite qualified at what he does.  Quality media outlet.

So no medical qualifications then, and you just ridiculed John Campbell for the same.

Hypocrisy at its best!

They are almost all covid related.  And 75%+ Omicron.

no they are not, many were admitted to hospital for covid unrelated reasons while there tested positive - they are NOT being treated for covid they are simply positive and asymtomatic

If members post unreliable youtube videos on here, well I'll say no more.

If you want to read about Omicron direct from the source (never mind the youtube videos) there is a press release / summary from South Africa summarising what they found to date :

Here's a link : https://www.samrc.ac.za/news/tshwane-district-omicron-variant-patient-profile-early-features

They note that there are infections being found but it's different to what's been happening over the last couple of years and go into some detail.

Needless to say, there is no panic because what they're finding is far less concerning than what happened previously during the Delta surge.

A journalist searches for the facts . The journalist does not need to be an expert in the subject he or she is investigating .

That is not hypocrisy

Not sure if this could be the final COVID variant, but if the Spanish flu is anything to compare, that also fizzled out with less virulent and milder variants over time.  Fingers crossed.

research SARS CV 1 - remember that one, completely wiped itself out

John Burn Murdoch is a data scientist, thats what he does, provides accurate data and charts that are cited by numerous credible outlets. Why would you need to have medical qualifications for that? An Epidemiologist also does not need to have medical qualifications

OMG - please read up before posting - you are way off with this one

Data from SA. Log graphs, so a rising straight line means exponential growth. Note the increase in O2 use as compared to Delta in the first 2 weeks.

That's not been proven.  Far from it.

He did say "could end the pandemic", not will end it. There's a big difference.

From my understanding this variant was announced only recently in  RSA.

The poor chap arrived in November, I  supposed he had been tested and quarantined as well upon arrival in Thailand.

I therefore can only suspect he has been infected in Thailand only. Maybe I am wrong.????

Announced just over a week ago, but by the time it was announced, it was already in America and most other countries, including Thailand.

he also links the sources for all his presentations - ivaluable work that I don't need to do

Actually I was referring to John Burn Murdoch

Apples and oranges.  Campbell is putting himself out there like a medical expert.  He's not.  My reference is just a data analyst. Doing graphs.  Never said he was a doc.  Takes some time to understand it all, I guess.

Yes they are.  They're being tested and from what's being reported, it's 75% for Omicron.  Do the research.
