A spokesman for the Thai corrections department Thawatchai Chaiwat told Thai Rath that convicted poacher Premchai Karnasuta's health had improved and he was sleeping normally in prison hospital in Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi.

Last week the chief of construction giant Ital-Thai was confirmed by the Supreme Court to have to serve a two and a half year sentence.

He is currently undergoing a 21 day Covid-19 quarantine before being admitted to the main part of the prison to serve his time.

Thawatchai said his mental condition was fine.

What's for supper in the prison hospital? Turtle soup? Panther steak? Pangolin pie?

hospital can be only those positive.

He is not positive and should be in an isolation wing for 14 days (and not 21 days).

Looks like he is preparing a jump from a prison hospital to an outside one

He's been building his case for cancellation of prison sentence for health reasons for some time now while delaying the hearings. Funny how he can be roughing it, camping out and hunting, cooking over an open fire as we saw in the pictures. Then as soon as he is arrested and charged he magically is transformed into a sick old man in a wheelchair or on crutches pleading for understanding and sympathy and shifting blame onto his driver all the while presumably dispensing largesse in brown envelopes no doubt.

And that in just 1 week!

See what a fish head soup diet can accomplish?

Wait another 2 years and he'll feel 30 years younger, ready to take on the world again. But hopefully in a good way.

I hope while he's there he get's that Goiter lanced...

You mean 30 kilos younger?

By the way, fish head soup is an urban myth these days and stopped years ago, although the food is not particularly appetizing.

People like this guy have no problems at all, he can order plentiful varieties of food from the prison shop and in hospital ( where I have no doubt he intends to stay or be transferred to a good hospital  indefinitely )  it gets delivered to him!

The prison guards will even bring food in for him, at a cost.

Big boy won't starve!

It only begs the question , who did he upset for the case to go so far?

What's the betting he will serve most of his time in a comfy hospital bed?

who cares how he's sleeping. Shouldn't even get a mention in the media.

Could is be because Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health is one of the owners of the Cie Sino-Thai Engineering?

I'm glad to hear that. I was sooo  worried he wouldn't be able to get any sleep squeezed into those cells with loads of inmates per cell.

Of course it has.  His court appearance was all sham designed to elicit mercy.

And soon a well deserved recover at his home! ????

I hope this is not going to be a weekly media report.

Stayed tuned, for the weekly update ????

Convicted poacher Premchai (or someone who looks very like him) sleeping peacefully in prison hospital

Why not to let him go home for a weekend as somewhere is possible in case his private jet is available.

So eventually ill-health will mean he has to do his time in hospital or at home?
