Doesn't make it better. Years ago I had my ATM card stolen right at the checkout of Wal Mart in China. - The card was useless for the (female) thief, but I had a lot of trouble and expense to have it replaced.

And how did she get her hands on the PIN? Unless it was written on a piece of paper along with the card..

The guy was dying, maybe he thought she was somebody else like a wife, daughter, GF, mother? And he gave it to her thinking she was one of them. Poor girl big mistake, money never comes easy unless you win lotto.

"How, unless, paper, card". No need for an investigation. Seems  you have it solved.

She has ruined her career and reputation for 4,500 baht.

Nothing mentioned about that. The hospital will probably do nothing and hope it all goes away.

Obviously what she did was very bad and she should be punished.

But I wonder how desperate a nurse has to be to steal an ATM card from a dying patient in the ICU and then, a day later, deduct money. That wasn't "a spur of the moment thing". After she stole the card she had a long time to think about what to do with that stolen card.

I totally agree.

These are hard times for many Thai families.

Nonsense.

Things like this case happen all over the world, it's not exclusively Thai.

And the victim was not a foreigner, by the way.

Now keep on hating...

I be the first, why someone in a coma not allowed any visitors ?

Hospitals are being a little odd at the moment.

My MiL was taken to hospital by ambulance in the early hours of this morning.

My woman went with her, was allowed into the emergency dept, but not allowed into the room, patients only. I had to go and collect her at 4am, no visitors allowed in the wards, they say COVID precautions.

Good call.

What she did was very bad but it could have been a lot worse, she withdrew 4500 baht (probably giving most of it to her alcoholic bf, ???? the mind boggles).

She could have taken alot more.

Anyway this story is so wrong.

She apologized to the family of the dead man saying it was the first time she had done such a thing.

It was not the first time she did this, just the first time she was nabbed

The family said that the hospital had yet to come through on promises made that if it was their own staff who stole the money they would fully reimburse the family.

They are still waiting.

A sad state of affairs to get into.

I stand behind Thai's up here in Isaan and many stand at the ATM with bits of paper, keying in account numbers and Pins.

So hardly surprising the info was to be obtained easily.

But no excuse for the nurse to take advantage of a patient, silly woman.

Famous case in the UK where a doctor Shipman was killing his patients for their money, and in the US a nurse was also killing patients for money. At least this nurse only stole the money.

Mostly - though not in his very last murder - Shipman did not kill for money. He did it for pleasure.
