What are the exact dates that the American army boys are visiting Pattaya.

They will NOT be coming ashore in any numbers and have not done so for years. Any military personnel found in the company of a bar girl or in an establishment with bar girls  can be charged, court martialled for human trafficking..This has been the case for about ten years.

Commanders don't let the mass majority go out on there own, and usually under GO1 (no drinking). Most of the army isn't in Pattaya either, they are in the field training with Thai Soldiers or building schools and such in small villages. Last time I went, the main Army group was in Korat training on base and the rest building schools in villages nearby. Maybe about 20 of us could actually go out (Senior Officers, Civil Affairs, MISO). Most of my drinking was to entertain senior Thai officers. The others just got supervised field trips to a temple or market.

The anti-prostitution, antihuman trafficking rule has been in place for many years (aprox 20?), it all started when the Koreans started importing Filipina bar girls by the 1000's to entertain the GIs in South Korea, the Koreans could pay the Filipinas much much cheaper than the Korean bar girls.  The higher ups didn't want the US military to look like it supports human trafficking so they said anyone caught bar fining a Filipina would be court martialed.

It used ti be a rock n roll life when GI's weren't out there getting killed, it is complicated how this happens but basically the one "minority" will have a contention with the other "minority" and make sure they are closely watched and babied. Notto mention jailed for having fun.

Back in the day. Thousands of military personnel came on shore.  The girls prepared banners and sewed welcome messages to pin and hang outside the bars. IT WAS A MASSIVE OCCASION and great fun. But it was killed off by feminism via the recruitment of female personnel into the forces basically horrified at the fun and freedom Pattaya offered men. I remember about 2008 the girls in the beer bar on 2nd Rd across from the Lek Hotel chattering excitedly and stitching welcome signs.

In Pattaya Cobra Gold and other American  military exercises used to be synomous with fun and freedom BUT You got it. Feminism turned from being a quest for equality to the earliest manifestation of identitarianism: The Fun Police got their puritanical views validified and it impacted us here in Pattaya.  There used to be so much positive energy and MONEY in Pattaya during those old Military exercises.

Not true.  I been on Soi 6 many times when the ships were in. Both Sailors and Soldiers  rocking with the needy ladies

The most true post in this thread. Sad but true in recent years that the restrictions are ridiculous.  It is a shame the troops are not allowed to go out and have good time. Did Cobra Gold from the late 90's to 2006.  First CG in Lop Buri and had a blast!  Best times were at small exercises in Isaan and Chanthaburi, good folks, great food, beer and beautiful women!  Got to see a lot of the country and met my wife here. Retired and settled in Thailand now. 

 

Laugh every year when Cobra Gold comes around the Pattaya crawlers become nervous like the OP, scared of a little competition?
