BANGKOK, Feb 11 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration approved the Thailand Pass Hotel & Swab System that will complement the Test & Go entry scheme by monitoring the movements of visitors after their arrival.

 

CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the center approved the Thailand Pass Hotel & Swab System (TPHS) that would be connected to the Thailand Pass system to ensure that visitors’ movements would be tracked and they would know about the results of their COVID-19 tests without having to wait for a long time.

 

Dr Taweesilp said that from July to October last year about 65,000 visitors had arrived. When the Test & Go entry scheme was implemented in November and December last year, the country received 321,752 visitors. After the Test & Go had been improved and resumed this month, 32,713 travelers already registered for their entry through the scheme, he said.

Duh!! Let me spell out for ya ...Relax rules, stop forced quarantine, remove Thai pass bureaucracy,  you will get millions more.

If Thailand spent more time and money getting their population boosted rather than these daft schemes, they might actually get out the other side of the pandemic.

Instead they have a paltry 20% boosted.

So now we have, Test-Track-And-Trace, Test-Swab-And-Go and Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital.

What about Test-A-Gogo or Test-A-Kathoey?

Ah, this is obviously some strange usage of the word "welcome" that I wasn't previously aware of.

Seems totally nuts to me and just a way of implementing some CCP style big brother scheme by the back door !

 

I assume you cannot leave your hotel until you get the first test and go negative result, and similar for the ludicrous day five one. Getting the 'result' on your phone to me is about to cause arguments with guests and hotels and if the guest gets a positive on their phone before the hotel knows , they may well do a runner !

And while you are doing all that ensuring and tracking of the visitors with no doubt expensive and expansive assurance and tracking paraphernalia, could you possibly also ensure that their personal data they had to submit to you stay safe in your system and not be hacked or sold? And if it gets hacked because of your choice to build a cheap and not secure website, are you then prepared to compensate the visitors?

Meanwhile the world seems to be moving towards just a pre-departure test, if any. Thailand's convoluted process looks less and less "welcoming" in comparison.

Maybe this is why the US government advised people participating in the winter olympics to use a burner phone while in China.  The same advice could be relevant in Thailand.

How does that make foreigners look bad or encourage Thais to blame them for the pandemic?

 

I think the numbers were something like 13,000-14,000 yesterday with less than 200 of those coming from abroad.  Why do they need to test or quarantine these people at all?  Narrative.

Catching foreign tourists with covid is a big earner which is why they put so much effort into it with multiple tests and also allow them to go out and mingle for 5 days just to make sure they have the best chance to get infected

They do love their systems, apps and schemes.

 

That flow chart looks pretty complex.
