Just another of those barbarous weapons they use, watch this horrendous explosive line operated mine clearer. They are intended to be used in fields and open areas. They are shot up in the air in a large rope that covers a huge area then on impact it explodes. They have been using them to blow up residential buildings.

Video here, unbelievable:

"Russia is using a new war crime method. The UR-77 mine clearing system uses a detonation-cord that should be fired at a flat angle toward open fields. In Rubizhne, they fired it at a steep angle in an urban area, making sure the entire cord lands in one spot (bigger explosion)."

How to make your enemy fight harder 101.

What a home goal.

Its high time for the Russian people to be revolting, if they can possibly manage that.

I agree, they are revolting.

No, I must be old school! I thought in a war for the survival of one's country , all able-bodied males joined the armed forces and fought for their nation.

If you just thought about it for a moment (you obviously haven't) you would realise that is actually impossible - unless you want various other parts of the country's institutions, infrastructure, etc to stop functioning.

During a war you still need people to perform all kinds of different functions - not just fight as soldiers.

This blogger is a civilian pilot for Ukrainian airlines, currently grounded. He posts videos at least once a day and provides excellent detailed and updated tactical maps of the combat areas. Doesn't hide any Ukrainian setbacks. Great content. Ukrainian forces have just deployed M777 long range artillery.

Слава Україні!

Here are  couple of links to articles that explain how devastating the new howitzers and artillery shells being provided by Nato members will be to the Russians. I don't see how they can stand up to this kind of firepower. One interesting factoid: the US will be providing a total of 183,000 artillery shells to the Ukrainians.

Ukraine’s New Heavy Artillery Will Cause Russia a World of Pain

As Western countries ship increasingly heavy arms to a beleaguered Ukraine, one of the most important transfers so far is an arsenal’s worth of field howitzers. Unlike the Ukrainian army’s existing big guns, these artillery pieces come in NATO calibers and are the key to unlocking the West’s precision-guided artillery technology. The tech, which includes GPS-guided artillery shells and tank-hunting munitions, could make Ukraine’s cannon-cockers exponentially more powerful.

The king of battle’ — How US artillery in the hands of Ukrainians may reshape the war with Russia

he 90 M777 howitzers that the United States is providing to Ukraine will not only make it more difficult for the Russians to move out in the open but the guns could also support a future Ukrainian offensive to reclaim Russian-occupied parts of their country, experts told Task & Purpose.

bout 70 of the 155 mm guns along with roughly 70,000 artillery rounds have been transferred to Ukraine so far, a senior defense official told reporters on Monday. More than 200 Ukrainian troops are expected to be trained on how to operate the howitzers by the end of Monday with another 50 Ukrainian service members scheduled to begin training later this week.

Regardless you missed the point of the post.

It's ok for the west to prop up the the government administrations with 500 million a month.

The common people still need to earn unless your happy to see them on chicken and bread hand outs.

Having worked for a bulk grain handler handling 20 million tonnes a year, this solution by the EU will simply not work.

Dream on.

Troll post? Some M777 howitzers have already arrived from both Canada and the US. Along with Howitzers from the Australia and Germany I certainly wouldn't dream to much if I was  Russian over there specially if they use precision shells.

Notwithstanding the nonsense of one of our most shallow and obvious Putin shills, I have seen a marked increase in footage of the Ukr use of howitzers in the field in the last few days.

That is why mobile artillery is preferred by both sides.

There is a good article on this in the Economist:   https://www.economist.com/europe/2022/05/02/artillery-is-playing-a-vital-role-in-ukraine  Some key points are:

Ukraine has had the advantage in artillery counter-fire (using artillery to wipe out the enemies artillery) because it had better intelligence regarding Russian positions and because the Russians have left a great deal of its men and equipment bunched up on roads and river crossings.

The new NATO artillery is more powerful, more mobile, easier to repair, and superior in other ways.  As of May 2 the US had delivered 70 large howitzers and trained 200 Ukraine soldiers on their use.  As more guns are delivered and fielded, more soldiers trained and gain experience, and if the supply of shells and other support is maintained (logistics is essential) it will make a big difference.

senior U.S. defense official Russia now has 106 BTGs in the country, but still has a "majority" of the 140 units he dedicated to Ukraine mission.

Analysis: Neutral Switzerland leans closer to NATO in response to Russia

BERN, May 15 (Reuters) - Switzerland's fabled neutral status is about to face its biggest test in decades, with the defence ministry tilting closer to Western military powers in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The defence ministry is drawing up a report on security options that include joint military exercises with NATO countries and "backfilling" munitions, Paelvi Pulli, head of security policy at the Swiss defence ministry told Reuters.

Nothing "fabled" about there neutral status. They are just interested in looking after themselves and their banks. They have done nothing to help stop Ukraine being decimated by Russia. ☹️☹️

Agreed but that does not stop them changing as in the report.

Russian TV pundits getting a taste of reality from a Russian defense expert, I notice the witch keeps trying to deflect what he's saying but to no avail.

Twitter Video source In an extremely rare moment of candour on Russian state TV today, defence columnist Mikhail Khodaryonok gave a damning assessment of Russia's war in Ukraine and his country's international isolation. It's fairly long but worth your time so I've added subtitles.
