Hairgrowth remedy - 'potential' scam

While walking along the sidewalk in front of pattaya night market (across from view talay condo), two blokes who appear to be pakistani or indian, made a comment about my bald head in broken english. Made me curious as one of my buddies had been conned recently and had narrated his experience. For lack of nothing better to do during the afternoon, i played along.

This is how is goes,

- they get your attention by commenting about your bald head,

- if you take that bait, he shows photos of his bald head in the past! And tada... he has thick hair now!

- Tells you its very easy, get pure coconut oil, mix a, b, c herbs and apply on your head for 1 month and its all magic...????

So i asked him for details of the a, b & c.

I could not grasp his prescription and the kind gentlemen took me to a herbal product shop in the pattaya night market.

The shop appears to be similar to a hemp shop, but has 100s of bottles or cans with supposed herbs. its manned by an asian guy & a thai lady.

So i went on to buy a small bottle of cocunut oil which was only 120 baht. thats where my experience stops as i was not ready to part with more money.

From my buddies experience, he lost in excess of 40,000baht. apparently the herbs, a, b & c are priced  50, 120, 1800 baht per gram and he was prescribed to buy 12 gms based on his age & weight ????. the price of the most expensive herb 'c' is not disclosed until the 'a' & 'b' is mixed in the coconut oil you bought off them.

Has anybody else come across this scheme?

if not, this can be heads up for any others that may be approached in future.

My dear ol' departed Dad used to say, 'If there was a cure for baldness, do you really think the Royal family would still be bald ? '

If the active ingredient isn’t Tiger balls infused with Rhino horn then it’s a scam, nothing surer…

I am happy to be a slaphead in this climate, plus I have saved a fortune not buying shampoo.

Yup, no amount of money will cure the follicly challenged, you have only got to look at Sir Elton with all his money he has and he still wears those dodgy syrups !!

I have waited 50 years to repeat that joke, I couldn't bottle it up any longer.

Apparently there is a cure but you need to have the treatment when beginning to lose hair rather than once it's gone

I've heard that rubbing the green end of a gooses dropping on the bald head works! ????

There's no cure ,ones its gone it stays gone,Same as being dead .Can't Revive the dead so can't revive the hair what's gone. ????

You can get Rogaine at a pharmacy cheaper than that.

Exactly what i said, needs treatment before it's gone

"Heads up"................LOL.I like it................

Finasteride (1 mg) daily will stop hair falling out from male pattern baldness, but nothing can regrow hair on a bald scalp.

Then he was a fool , I had a completely head and now have a full head of hair and only spent 350 baht. I bought a nice Wig from Lazada and now the ladies are calling out " Handsome Nan , were you going "

Its changed my life

Not always. Finasteride sometimes can regrow hair to varying degrees. In my case it did, after a few months of taking it the bald spot on the top strarted shrinking.

Didn't quite work like that for a friend of mine who used finasteride for a few months, rubbing it on his bald head twice a day – – he didn't get any hair growth on his head, but the palms of his hand, looked like those of a yeti!

You can buy minoxidil tablets really rediculously cheap here at most pharmacies. I think the tabs I used to buy were about 120 baht for 50, much much cheaper than rogaine. I took them about 8 years ago for a year and grew my hair back and it was also much thicker, but it came with a downside. Firstly I had to take about 10 tablets a day, spread out through the day. Secondly I grew extra hair everywhere, including shoulders, back, asscrack etc so I started to feel overly hirsute. I took them with another tablet whose name I can't remember but that is a chinese herb that makes your hair grow back as it's original color, not grey and that tablet worked well as well. The pharmacies in Yowarat Area know the drug combination, it's popular with chinese.

In the end I preferred not having to take these  drugs,  so I stopped taking the tablets after a year but believe me, these tablets did work a treat. About 3 months after I stopped taking them I was back to normal.

What treatment ? If you start to lose your mop nothing is goin to stop it. I am pretty happy with my bald head . Just got it to keep it out of the sun.

I've seen experts on TV talking about it, doesn't effect me as i have loads of hair, but for those losing should research into it

Yes and Elton is even more ugly now with his syrup than he was without it!

On the topic of baldness, I am considering hair transplant surgery (ARTAS FUE robotic transplant method) here in Thailand. Cost quoted was US$3 per transplanted graft with a target of 3.5k grafts.

Wondering if those performing the procedure here are just as good as those in Hungary or Türkiye.

Never underestimate the desperation of the Baldies.

I asked my UK hairdresser whether he thought i should cut my hair really short, he said no, should keep sticking it to the baldies
