    Confiscate their cameras , they are sure to have photos of the incident on them, then throw them out of the country ,not offering payment and refusing to apologise you can see what kind of @

  • This is the cultural hegemony that gives foreigners the idea that they are superior to Thais and don't have to behave the same way as they would back home. Refusing to apologise or pay compensation is

did they know it was "art"

I doubt it, probably high on something, like most young tourists in a foreign country.

"He named one 34 year old Brit for allegedly destroying the buffalo after climbing on it."

I didn't see any name, maybe I missed it?

Surely if they his name and nationality shouldn't be too hard to find him?

In the Shanghai International Zone in the 1920s and 1930s, the foreign consuls had the power to arrest, jail, and deport their own nationals. The US sent their incorrigibles to Bilibid in Manila or McNeil's Island in Puget Sound. Wouldn't be too bad of an idea, I think, to start doing the same here. It would prevent the lowlifes from bribing their way out of trouble and putting them in real pain.

Dr Apinan said that several German and British tourists were "having a great time".

Idiots on holiday.. deport them, and blacklist them for life.

Was it the same guy I just read about on the last funny story about the police beating him up and getting mugged and lost everything, Just wondering.

Exactly, in reality they've done this 'artist' a favour, he's now getting more publicity than he ever would have.

For once in Thailand, it will be a doctor instead of a bar girl, going around asking for donations of the hurt and sick buffalo. LOL.

"The buffalo is being kept in a crumpled heap for a few days so people can say goodbye."

Sounds like it is a bit like the dead parrot in the Monty Python sketch:-

"E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!
THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!"

Brilliant!!!

Lock them up, extract compensation, deport them and blacklist them for life.

So kick them out.  But can we keep the blonde?  She looks hot.

Is it any wonder that many Thais dispise farangs ?

Really? I'm sorry but I must question your circle of Thais or foreigner's because I've found the opposit!  The Thai people i surrounded myself with never once made any such claims and the only people I've come across who make such claims are self hating foreigner's.

Estimate value of the art to 1 billion baht and make him pay or sit in jail until he does.

I had similar thoughts. Why bother to mention “British” after they already stated that the perp was a drunken tourist? Almost every article here that mentions fighting, antisocial behavior or vandalism involves drunken British tourists.

I’ve been to over 60 countries and if there’s drunken rowdiness it’s not Germans or Spanish or even loud, entitled  Americans responsible , it’s most often Brits.

What on earth for?

Why not stand it back up and fix the damaged horn?

I can understand why there is no apology when this is being blown out of all proportion.

Maybe the farangs should put photos of the dead English engineer on it to put it in perspective.

We do seem to breed them. This is why I stopped going out years ago. The problem is this sort of behaviour normally goes unpunished. Our legal system is all or nothing. I would like to see a system of minor punishments such as being forced to clean the streets the following Sunday at 3 in the morning for 2 or more weeks with a separate record (to criminal records) made to increase punishment for repeat offenders. Things like weekend curfews would be a good deterrent.

Why the need of a video ? A witness should suffice .

The damage is not so great and I expect you were young as well  many moons ago .

The buffalo has had a fall , but things can be put right easily .

Young people under the influence can and will do stupid things .

You mean something like this?

"You may have to do unpaid work in your local community, like removing graffiti. This is called Community Payback.

Community sentences can be given for crimes such as:

* damaging property

* theft

* assault"

Yes, but without the criminal record. Community service or whatever it is called nowadays is very rarely handed out for non violent drunken behaviour. Normally offenders are held until morning in police stations and released with no further action.

As an example - a friend of mine,  who is a complete <deleted> when drunk, would regularly be held overnight and then released. He was well known to all the local police. Years later he laughs about it and has no shame at all.

No we haven't as not everyone who is drunk acts like an idiot. You must be British...

More likely - and rightly - he will be held here until he fully pays for the damage before chucking him out. And hopefully that damage assessment will be ridiculously high !

Art alright ,built like everything else in Thailand Below standard .

Would've dissolved with the next rainstorm.
