Patong – An illegal bar on Bangla Road in Patong was raided uncovering underage prostitutes with six victims rescued. Two suspects were arrested who claim the real bar owner is a foreigner.

Last night (March 15th) a team from the Department of Provincial Administration raided a bar in Soi Sea Dragon on the Bangla Road.

The Department of Provincial Administration official told the Phuket Express the raid came after officials received complaints from the Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R) that the bar was allegedly operating a prostitution service with underage sex workers for foreign customers.

TIT where money and corruption is no 1 and law and order is swept under the carpet. Parents turn a blind eye because they benefit financially/the weight of police "law enforcement" depends on the weight of their brown envelopes. No prostitution but wall to wall bargirls.

Here we go with the 'not just Thailands', yes but Thailand is universally notorious for it since decades.

You can't give consent for prostitution when you are 15, so it IS very bad. that you think it is ok, is sick.

It's possible that the foreigner owner had no idea this was going on. The pimping of these girls could have just been a side business. Why did they include 3k baht in the picture? I'm guessing that is the ST fee

"The bar was also being operated without permission. They were taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of operating an entertainment venue without a permit or license and human trafficking."

It is almost impossible to find out if a bar has no licence especially in Soi Bangla... And then prostitution... And then minors... What a bad world there ????????????. Good that I live in the lovely family resort Pattaya that is officially free of prostitution ♥️????????????

Where did it say they were 15 in the post? Under 19 is classed as underage in prostitution Thailand. The term "to young to concent" used yet in villages up and down Thailand girls 15 or younger marry all the time and sometimes to much older men. Young girls of the very poor are often sold into basic bondage to karaoke/bar etc. This has been thai cultural for hundreds of years. Right or wrong people should never judge through western culture eyes.

The full article, if read, clearly states that the youngest girl was 15 years old

This bar, which so surprisingly has been found to be illegal and unlicensed, is prominently featured in a really well-known Youtube-Channel during his rounds through Soi Bangla, at least for the last six months (Nine Media Thailand). I am sure it can be found in lots of other Youtube-Channels.

It would be really, really difficult to overlook it by just casually strolling up Soi Seadragon: it is on the ground floor, advertised by neon lighting, a gigantic sign already visible from the main road, and girls trying to usher you in quite aggressively.

The girls all sit outside or dance inside on the stage, clearly visible at all times from the road. There is absolutely nothing hidden going on here at all.

Yuki, named in the article, was not shy to be mentioned by name in those videos and quite proudly presented the other employees openly there.

Soi Bangla and Soi Seadragon has a visible, daily police presence, with regular patrols happening. I am sure all officers are schooled in identifying illegal prostitution and especially underage girls and would not hesitate a second to stop such illegal acticity, whenever and wherever they would have possibly encountered it during all those previous months.

Putting all this info together, I invite everybody to come to their own conclusions what really is happening here.

He's right though. Highly unlikely they worked there against their will.

Why?

because for the most part the vast majority of 15 year old girls are not developed enough to understand the consequences of their actions.

i would of thought that was pretty straight forward.

we have advanced enough as a society to understand more about the brains development. i would think that working as a bar girl might factor into ones psychology and or mental state going forward into the future.

just a guess though.

may i ask do you yourself have a daughter. if so is she 15. and then if so......you fill in the rest. or anyone else here that wants to moan about my comment. please let me know your thoughts on this subject if it was your daughter.

If indeed there was a 15 year old girl working there, that would be reprehensible. There are laws against it, which should be followed.

The main emphasis of the article, that this bar was operating "unlicensed" for several months even though it is one of the most visible in Soi Seadragon, and the supposition that the secret shareholder is a foreigner (which still would mean that he must have majority Thai shareholders, unmentioned), all this directly under the nose of the police and that it was a different agency which had to do the raid...

I would not want to say that there were no underage girls there, but the whole circumstances leave me in some doubt. At a minimum, I am very sure that the information in this article contains some serious holes. Holes, that to my opinion are much worse than underage girls, bad as that is by itself, because they create the exact circumstances that make this possible without the need to have a care about the law.

I would be very surprised to see if this same place is not open within the next few days, with pretty much the same employees as before (minus the underage girl and maybe with a different sign outside).

from the sounds of it you didn't even read the attached link that details what happened.

and i quote....

Officials told the Phuket Express that they have rescued six underage female victims in a nearby hotel. The youngest victim is only 15 years old. They were taken into the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).
