Pattaya — A college student in Pattaya is demanding someone to take financial responsibility after she crashed her sedan into a road construction site on Threpprasit Road.

The victim, 20-year-old Ms. Areeya Sansuk, revealed to The Pattaya News that she crashed her sedan on Threpprasit Road around midnight on July 4th. She said she was driving a Honda City sedan and was totally unaware of the roadwork taking place in the area.

 

As a result, Ms. Areeya collided her vehicle with the construction site, resulting in significant damage to her car. She did not suffer injuries.

Blame game....

The gen Z strikes. I need others to pay for my mistakes.

They can't drive cars, as shown again.. she was not aware of road works .. When I learned to drive a car they taught to to watch in all directions constantly and adjust speed. In Thailand drivers don't seem look further than the end of their car  or seemed to be hypnotized on a motorcycle, as the they can't slow down or brake.. Even driving to cars behind eachother and the first turn rights, they stop behind that cat as they are not aware that they could pass on the left

did she get tested for alcohol, it's not hard to see, unless on the phone

By the same token she could have been 'totally unaware' of people crossing the road or walking on the footpath.

Irrespective of what you may think of the poor student's driving skills, those blocks placed in the center of Thepprassit Road to prevent u-turns are dangerous and my prediction is they will be removed at some point. I was discussing them with a retailer there last week and mentioned it would cause a lot of accidents. At the very least, the barrier should have been lit up at night. In this case she really does have a good point and council should share responsibility.

While I an generally unimpressed with her claim, I am less impressed with the safety layouts for road repairs. It is a real hazard for the workers. No cones, lights or warning signs in use. It is time someone addressed the issue.

Yes I believe so too.... what is the going total ATM for accidents before something gets done..... 3, 4, 10?

90% her fault but those low level concrete blocks are a total menace. There will be dozens of accidents until they are removed. Isn't the financial responsibility down to her insurers?

I agree with you that roadworks are very dangerous.. Suddenly you can face a block or an arrow without any announcement before to take care.. But as a driver you drive a car and it is our responsibility to drive safely and beware of all kind of dangers...Indeed a lot should be done, but this is Thailand and nobody cares about anything... examples more than we can write. parking in the middel of the road in curves at traffic lights, markets at place next to the exit of of the highway. suddenly roadworks blocks, no signs, crazy drivers, underaged drivers and the list can go on.. Education and a working policeforce  can do a lot, but with a greeding government that only take cares of themselves nothing will be done. I hope that MFP start to change things

They won't be going away. It's 100% her fault, the concrete didn't move. Thais want to copy western countries with those ridiculous islands. They built those islands on a major highway in UD, serious accidents happened.

She was distracted (either drunk or phone) and drifted into the median... good thing it stopped her... she may have hit head on another car coming the other direction and killed them both.

She obviously can't drive, or she is blind, drunk - or all of them in any combination.

Did she not see the warning twigs placed on the ground in front of the building work?

The position of the vehicle seems a bit odd, which direction was she travelling in? If this girl is local you would think she is well aware of the roadworks in that area

I will kill myself if no compensation.

Looks like she was trying to do a U-turn , where there wasn't one , but might

have been before ,and she didn't see the new road divider , built to stop drivers

doing U-turns ,and reducing accidents , U-turns a major cause of accidents,

 

Dark film on windows , driving without due care and attention , whatever ,it's

her fault , but like most Thai drivers would never admit to it. it's always someone

or something elses fault.

I have not heard anyone say putting this divider in the road was a good idea except the builders and city.....

It looks like she was turning right and completely oblivious to the dividers.

These dividers are obviously a bad idea and will create many more accidents. The place where you can attempt a U turn isn’t big enough for trucks and they have to make many maneuvers to make the turn. Not very well thought out.

She damaged their median! The median didn't move so must it must have been the car that hit the median, not vice versa?555

Those dividers will work but they need to be raised higher,like the ones in Hua-Hin.

Her claim on the contractor good luck with that one 

What about her car insurance claim on that ????
