Thai senators are preparing to lodge a complaint with the Icelandic government following an incident where Doctor Porntip Rojanasunan was thrown out of a Thai restaurant in Iceland by its Thai proprietor.

Last week, a video went viral on Thai social media depicting a Thai man, who identified himself as the owner of a restaurant in Iceland, expelling Porntip from his establishment. Porntip and her companions declined to vacate the premises, advising the owner to maintain a separation between his political views and personal life. In the video, the proprietor can be heard telling them to clear off.

“Go! Go! Get out of here! Get the hell out of here! You are corrupt. Get out! Get out of here! You do not belong here. We do not welcome you.”

Porntip’s friend, Bhumjaithai Party MP Mallika Jirapanvanit, did not believe the Thai man was the owner of the restaurant and asked him to prove his status. The man ignored Mallika’s curiosity and kept asking Porntip to leave.

The restaurant owner insisted that the other visitors in the group could stay, but Porntip had to leave.

“I only blame her (Porntip). You can all stay. I can accept that. I cannot accept what she has done to Thailand. I hate her. I really hate her. She is trash!”

Surely she was meant to be doing her duty as a senator, not on a trip to Iceland? The owner has the right to chuck anyone out without reason, and he has reason enough with this woman. The revered badger haired pathologist who claimed those fake bomb detectors were real, no more real than the elections here! Chuck her out!

Her feelings must be very hurt that outside Thailand she does not get special treatment...

  • Popular Post

I can only imagine the horror she must have felt when someone in power denied her something she felt entitled to...

  • Popular Post

The rest of the world has the same laws for all and no special privileges for the hi-so. Just to remind. But if the restaurant owner has family back in Thailand, they could be in some sort of hot soup as well as their assets or property.

Make their lives so uncomfortable they quit a year early. It just might work.

Weak, pathetic, cowardly, self entitled hooligans, who are accustomed to a perch atop the ivory tower, scared to death of being taken down a notch, and being asked to be accountable for their heinous and unforgivable actions. Of course they will resort to whatever dirty tactics they can. That is who and what they are. Filth. They are the deplorables.

So. Other than that they are OK?????

"the committee plans to send the complaint document to Iceland, urging the government to acknowledge the inappropriate actions of its residents."

Iceland is a free country - I'm pretty sure they don't discipline their citizens just because a foreign official thinks they've been insufficiently deferential.

"Additionally, the committee intends to pursue legal action against the restaurant owner under Thai law, regardless of whether Porntip chooses to pursue legal remedies."

So Thailand now has extraterritorial jurisdiction over rudeness in European restaurants? Fascinating. Perhaps they can take the case to the International Court of Justice in The Hague while they're at it.

The senators are right!Of course!

They should form a committee hold a lot of meetings(Phuket is good for that)and after that organize a trip to Iceland to launch a former complaint.

All paid for of course.

Maybe wait until the spring,it may be too cold for their entitlednessism.

If he had looked into the backgrounds of the rest of the group, perhaps he would have asked all to leave.

at the same time why don't you also file a Red Notice with Interpol, your RTP friends can help you with that

Knickers in twist much.

Surprised  the senators  didn't approach the Icelandic government with their usual refrain :

' Do you know who we are ? '

The restaurant owner certainly  does. He knows trash when he sees it.

What has a Thai restaurant owner throwing a Thai out of his restaurant got to do with the Icelandic government? And what does the Thai government expect that government to do (apart from laugh, that is). Expel him? Idiotic.

Besides that she (same as her senator gang) didn't Support Pita who achieved record votes and seats in the last general election.

The Thai man in Greenland has every right to disagree / object to her stance, and to tell her so.

We see this lack of understanding of the distinction between governments and individuals again and again here.

A restaurant in the US displays a Buddha image in a way that some Thai thinks is disrespectful? Complain to the mayor or the state governor! A UK newspaper says something "insulting" about a prominent Thai? Send a complaint letter to the British embassy!

Each time, the complainers seem mystified when their entreaties are ignored or laughed at. (The US Embassy has regularly refused to accept letters complaining about the actions of George Soros and other private citizens, suggesting that the aggrieved parties might want to send their complaints directly to the person whose behavior had bothered them.)

Yep. And to all your other cronnie, corrupt senators.

This is a great revolutionary/demonstration catch cry. I would add another "you are corrupt" and another "get out".

“Go! Go! Get out of here! Get the hell out of here! You are corrupt! You are corrupt! Get out! Get out! Get out of here!

Read this 3 times and I bet it sticks. ????

So, what does the government has to do with private business? Thai senators need to understand that they are abroad and not in Thailand

So you are saying Thailand is basically China now.  You cannot make this stuff up folks.

There are Thai restaurants run by Thais in Iceland? That is the most amazing part in this story.

Pretty sure private businesses in Iceland, and just about everywhere else,  have the right to refuse service to anyone unless it violates civil rights laws, which this clearly doesn’t.

In the real world, everybody is allowed to choose which guest are welcome and who not. The government of that country will not interfere,as it is a part of the habitats freedom.  Thailand has only rights for the rich, high ranked and famous, so now they feel hurt. Thailand should enter the real world in the 21st century instead of keeping their old fashioned and outdated laws. Rights are for everyone the dame they shout, look at Thaksin, but the reality is totally opposite

If the junta appointed senate has such extensive extraterritorial power,  why haven’t they used it to bring Boss back to face justice for a more serious crime? They could still get Yingluck too.

They will have a good laugh, they will joke about the highly insecure men and women, who have no self esteem, no ability to absorb the tiniest of slights, and the thinnest skin imaginable. They will wonder what Thailand would do if faced with real issues and problems. And they will joke about the misunderstanding of diplomacy, and the bottom of the barrel ministers in Thailand. A good laugh all around. And they will likely call the restaurant owner, and thank him for the good publicity and his courage.

So so funny, what do they expect them to do? Extradite him? LOL Iceland is a full democracy with full freedom of speech.
