Would you use a driverless taxi?

Featured Replies

Do you prefer to bathed in perfectly cool aircon with a smooth drive, no accidents, the fastest route and no getting lost or the obnoxious no English Thai guy swearing at you and asking you the way?

No. Just look what happened to that couple on a driverless elephant.

Thai taxi drivers will beat that car up!

No accidents is a utopia.

Never had a taxi driver swearing at me or got lost and i use taxi's a lot.

Too impersonal. Prefer a Johnny cab.

Is there an interaction more useless than the forced uncomfortable interaction with a taxi driver?

Let's see

A driverless taxi can't be drunk

A driverless taxi can't be distracted due sleepdeprivation, trying to earn extra money when they are clearly in no state to be driving

A driverless taxi can't be distracted due to having a bad day, having split up with his/her bf/gf/gik, had an argument with a friend, or dealing with some other financial and emotional issue.

A driverless taxi can't overcharge, either deliberately or accidentally.

A driverless taxi can't get either offended, or unwelcomly interested, when my girlfriend whips her knickers off.

Software can have bugs. But bugs can be fixed. Human qualities are more difficult to alter.

It all depend on the technology and the track record

No.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in the last couple of days that they have stopped the service in California due to an accident where a pedestrian was knocked by another car and fell under a driverless taxi and got stuck under the car for a long time....

And who was sitting at the front?

Hell NO, unless I'm drunk, 555

Even drunk there is no way.  Imagine a car that relies on google or bing map.

NEVER in Thailand. Then again most of the current drivers are clueless, is that the same?

The mahout, until he was thrown off.

Many advantages, would not refuse to use meter or go long way round, would not stink of nam prik and garlic or be under the influence. Best of all you would not have to listen to the drivers moans and life story all the way

Yes but that is a fantasy in Thailand. As for using a driverless vehicle well I would if I wanted to leave this world

I'm waiting until they have flying cars.  That should be interesting.

In BKK I take the skytrain wherever possible. Solves all the above problems on both sides of the argument.

move to Singapore if you want sterility. please Buddha, never ever let me meet this clown in person.

Yeah, I would in Thailand.

Safer.

Agreed, would've far safer than the majority of Thai taxi drivers.

always kicking off on other peoples threads. never see you make any of your own though.

Well, I was served by an AI waitress that looked like a walking frame and played an annoying tune when it walked a few days back, so anything's possible.

Imagine a taxi driver that relies on Sangsom or Hong Tong.
