I would certainly refrain of any Kiwi-bashing comments (let us all hold our steam for the next Russian-bashing session, should we?). I just came from NZ about a month ago and I can assure you this is not what you see in Christchurch on a daily basis. So my question is WHAT THE FREAKING HELL? What kind of hell should be inside your head not only to do this but to speak of this in this manner, either from the "couple of kids" or their "tree doesn't fall from the apple" parents?

Sorry, Swiss guys, I know you did your best, but not this year. While beating the Thai women in Thailand was a very creative and brave idea, it is nothing compared to attacking the local policeman and disarming (!!!) him. That unbelievable disarming part by itself would deserve a Nobel prize in Stupidity (if one only existed).

I don't know if it's the "likely scenario" but I do think we're not getting the full story here. For instance, there are claims the gun went off once during the struggle but I don't hear any gunshot in the videos posted so far. Maybe the cop, being on his own when chasing them, drew his weapon and fired a shot in the air or whatever. That escalated the situation.

 

And what's with the story that the cop agreed to accept an apology and a basket of fruit or whatever? That was quickly dismissed by more senior police as not true, but in other videos showing 'backup' arriving on motorcycles, they all - cops and perps - just stand around for a few minutes. Why didn't the assaulted cop shout at his buddies "they attacked me and got my gun"? Bizarre.

 

Like I say, I'm sure there's much more to how this all kicked off than just two foreign guys randomly deciding to get it on with a Thai cop.

I just heard on the local radio station Pattaya FM103, that the brothers are spoilt brats.

 

Their parents in New Zealand just sold a family business for $10M, brother was CEO.

So no innocent until proven guilty for foreigners in Phuket, by all mean investigate and prosecute but why revoke there visa if they are to remain in the country to face charges. 

My prediction - subject to a large enough envelope of the manila variety finding its way to the appropriate big cheeses, the copper will become the sacrificial lamb and transferred to Nakon Nowhere.

 

It will come to light that he was suffering from severe mental trauma (probably due to money pressure from his Mia Noi), and acted with unnecessarily provocation in waving his pistol about, threatening to shoot the humble Kiwi brothers if they didn't pay the "fine", and fearing for their lives, the pistol was grabbed from him after he accidentally discharged it.

 

Not saying this is what happened, just that this (or a variation of it) will be reported. We may even get a picture of the Phuket constabulary giving the brothers a basket of fruit and flower garlands.

Agree and cannot judge this event when there is just the one video , all in favour of the cop . Will the court case be a public hearing ? because the 2 NZ guys must be heard for their reasons to tackle the cop . 

Phuket is full of tourists . Many hire motor bikes . Thai law says that the renter must hold a licence . The licence is rarely asked for by the proprietor . Cops know this and the motor bike tourists are easy targets for fines . All part of the corruption chain . Easy money for the cops . Most Western tourists come to Thailand and assume that the laws in Thailand will be similar to those of their home country but that could not be further from the truth . There should be a health warning for tourists planning to visit Thailand . The Thai government have to answer why their laws are not enforced and the motor bike proprietor should be fined for renting a bike without viewing or asking for the renters license .

The initial four charges are stealing, fighting and obstructing officers while performing their duties, attacking an officer and driving without a licence.

They tried to bribe the cop for the traffic offence, the officer said "no thanks, I don't take bribes", then the two Kiwi bros decided to do a runner from the cop, the cop chases them down then they get into a fist & gun fight. Something doesn't sound quite right with that story.

Is  the Policeman now doing a "Thaksin" as  according to another report he only hurt his  finger, but if  the Police say hes in hospital  they can make it much  more serious
