ASEANNOW is Joining The Thaiger

i do not predict this sale will be a good thing for Asean now or for its members.. As Asean now always took their posts from other news services, now with Thaiger as the owner I think the only news we will actually see will be the same we can see in the Thaiger online. So why have this app?

The only good that came out of this sale is for the owners of Asean now. Perhaps now is a good time to start up website free from Thaigers influence. Utilizing many sources to get us our information. Who can say that Thaiger is unbiased in their approach to giving news to its followers? I can not count the number or ads i have seen in Thaiger shown as a news report when it should have been in their advertising section to promote Thailand. Tis a sad day for Asean Now.

Great stuff, Thesetat. I am delighted that so many of our contributors are 'media savvy' and can discern the forces running behind editorial shenanigans.

Of course the moderators will remain an important part of the forum, yet the question on will there be change is a fair and valid question.

I'm so glad they picked a really quality newspaper as a partner. As a user of Asean Now I'm happy, but as  a businessman, I know that the combination of two weak businesses never results in a strong new business. Rather the reverse, the weaknesses of both parties become more glaringly apparent.

Good Hopefully now we will be treated like adults with grownup vocabularies, instead of preschool children. :coffee1:

That's all very well and good (is it?) but how will all this impact me the user?

Change is scary!

Why is it scary? It’s an internet news site and chat forum. It’s not like it’s an integral part of anyone’s life

Great. Remove full page ads as one reads an article or responds, especially video ads and other ads placed not to disrupt reading and "Submit."

Good Morning !!! Great News!! 🙂

Hopefully we can finally get some non bias news reporting with facts and not gas lighting either side 🙂 You know common sense factual news reporting good or bad and having the staff to write it and report it properly for all!! 🙂 Which I find more so with Thaiger News 🙂

Possibly, although compared to what they originally paid for it, not so great.

A few posts contravening community guidelines have been removed along with responses to them.

There will be numerous positive changes in the coming weeks. I am certain you will be pleased with the results of many overdue improvements to this site.

Wait, does that mean the forum owner has infinity pool and endless mohito money now?

My suggestions to the new mgt:

1) Bring back non-anonymous emojis so we know who put up all those scrunchy faces.

2) In the poster reputation rankings, use AI to rate the positivity of the poster's contribution.  And how many of each type emoji they used. Expose the downers, the trolls and the meanies.  And the positive contributors.

3) Fix the ridiculous amount of full page ads on mobile platform.

Please reduce the AI in the reporting!

Those flowery words just get in the way of a poorly written story.

Carry on.

What the hell are you talking about, more flowery I say!   We need a Shakespearean text mode.

Good. Maybe now things will improve around here. Like headlines that make sense and news that's actually NEWS!

after all a forum is all about free speech isnt it?

No, it isn't. It is for gathering information and have discussions, doesn't give you the right to demonize people / groups.

One failing business model acquiring another failing business model. What could possibly go wrong?

Then, does this statement mean that the forum will become, once again, Thai Visa, and soar higher, and higher, like the mythical Phoenix?

...do you know what happened to Phoenix??? 😂😂😂

Great news if those principles come over to Aseannow.

Sounds this this change will be a good one.

Unless it's Trump or his supporters, obviously.

In fact, anyone you disagree with. 😃

Good luck with the changes.

Hopefully there will be no banned words. The audience is not children. Let the profanities and obscenities flow freely.

Well, in addition use clear names? With address and phone number? And a recent taken photo?

Splendid idea, isn't it?

Not haters anymore, no gutter language, no proof of stupidity.

Feels like heaven will come😂🤣🥳🤗

You certainly need to.

More or less of the use-inhibiting screen blocking ads as a consequence?

Couldn't agree more, not being able to use the word Bollo*cks is very frustration as an Englishman.
