The photo shown on the article was Lust Bar.

I wonder how many expats have been dipping their pen in underage ink, trusting the establishment to weed out the illegal ones.  With a nod and a wink.

She told police that her daughter allegedly worked at a bar in Soi Buakhao. She was afraid that her daughter might have been deceived about the nature of the work.

That location is known worldwide, and it's reputation.

I'm sure a Thai girl of any age would know what it was about.

Sad, but so often in Thailand.  Mother very determined to find the daughter and a good person, most parents give up after a few short days of searching.

The photo showing the police is located in Soi Buakhao, next to "The Krazy 80,s Bar". The orange-brown striped place opposite with the ice cream cone is Cafe Pitini. The bar tables out front match G&J Bar furniture. I don't know why they chose a Soi 6 "Lust" photo. I suppose they needed a bar with bar girls out front and that was the first one they found. So which photo is real? The one with sexy girl clickbait or the one showing a police raid?

If the authorities did more checks in bars clubs ect

Probably find plenty of  under age girls/ boys  working illegally in Pattaya

It's not  known as the sin City of Thailand for nothing around the World 💰 🤑

Why was the girl running away from home??? Who put her in the bar?? just a few questions to be answered.. Not always the girls fauly as is being suggested.. loverboys are also active here in Thailand... But the bar owner is responsible for these underage working girls as waitress or whatever...  They have to show an id card at least and if doubts, contact the police or parents .....Shame

What are "loverboys"?? Dude, if ya mean guys who love them chicks, just call them like lovers or something.

That's quite a sick comment.

No, it's the truth in many/most cases of young girls working in bars. Been here 30 years and have referred to parents here as "parasitic parents" for...30 years.

Obviously, that also brings up the question why the daughter run away from the mother.

How many teenagers would do that if they would feel comfortable at home?

Children run away from home by the thousands every year, in every country. Reasons for this are many. Some are being abused, molested or raped by family members. Some are being neglected, where mom and or dad don't want to be involved in their lives when they really need it, being teenage years, especially from the dad, who is her first role model, and how his relationship with her goes, is what she looks to in her future. If he's a loving, caring dad, she will look for that in partners. If he's distant, abusive and or neglectful, that will be normal for her and she will likely end up with more of the same. And if mom is also distant, she has to learn how to be a woman from peers, and they know very little themselves, and find out quick what the outside world is all about.

If a household has two loving, caring parents, a girl is more likely to stay until she is ready for work or college, being supported by her parents until she is independent. That's the best scenario.

There is also the rebellious teen, who has friends who are i broken homes, and this peer pressure might lead her astray, so she's with boys while she's too young, drinking or drugs. This is the one who's likely to run away more, looking for her own way, and finding hell along the way, because there are many predators looking for her at the same time.

What is it with this moral bull manure.

"Although it’s a misconception that prostitution is legalized in Thailand due to popular perception and how openly it is promoted, Thai laws are very much against it. Neither prostitution nor solicitation is legal in Thailand, and there are serious consequences for taking part in it. "

https://siam-legal.com/travel-to-thailand/fines-and-penalties-for-soliciting-prostitution-in-thailand/#:~:text=Laws Concerning Prostitution, and classifies prostitution as illegal.

Did you even bother to read the link?  Prostitution is illegal in brothels and "public places".  Soliciting for prostitution is illegal.  There is no law against paying someone privately for sexual services.  The Thai law is very similar to the UK law on which much if it is based.

Lot's of schoolgirls, many of them younger as 16 year, working a weekend freelance in Pattaya to earn extra pocket money.
But let's aplaud the Pattaya police for their actions in this particulat case ...
Thailand is rotten as rotten can be.

Yea fake id, and I think the girl claimed she’s 19, Just guessing

You might do well to check your "facts". Most famous does not equate to largest.
