This alcohol ban must be costing a fortune, not be long before all the generals will be getting a severe pay cut.

  • Does giving pep talk to adults on how to run their lives give a bit of a feel good. Some say live your own life.

  • I think golf courses should remain closed. I don't play golf nor do I even care. I just feel they should be closed based on the fact it doesn't affect me at all.

  • We'll be healthier than before, once alcohol ban is lifted.    Not a bad time to stop drinking altogether and spend the time and money to something else?   Some say that it takes 3

in times of social and economic stress, we need to be on the top of our games to handle what is happening at home. We should really ask ourselves, what risks we are taking in leaving people under lockdown in their homes with a substance that is harmful both in terms of their health and the effects of their behaviour on others, including violence?

Can you go and preach somewhere else!

I wonder how many of the wide spread suicides can be directly or indirectly linked to lack of booze. Also hospital visits and deaths, alcohol withdrawal is no joke

Good, they should keep the booze ban.

Great to see golf will reopen can't wait to hit the links.

Never play the 19th, then?

It has nothing to do with 'feeling normal'. It has a lot to do with enjoying a glass of wine or a beer with a meal in the evening and a lot to do with individual choice.

Notice no-one is trying to tell you that you must drink alcohol. Why not tell everyone to go to church as well on Sunday instead of say,  playing golf?

Take no notice bkk6060 is just being a supercilious snide and telling himself how clever he is.

Playing devil's advocate, why is smoking allowed??

This virus affects the lungs, that link is way more obvious

why isn't ecstasy allowed? Kills around 1 in 10,000 users and boosts adrenaline, amping the body up for fighting a virus ????
(I don't condone the use of ecstasy, in case somebody is reading this without the ability to detect sarcasm)

It's all about control. This regime is paranoid about Social unrest hence the Alchohol ban combined with the Curfew. They're throwing a few tidbits out to appease the populace. Farmers markets , noodle shops never did close. Hair salons pet shop boys Really ? This sitcom is getting stale..

This man loves the power...SOS in LOS

Define 'a lot' of money? How can not having a few beers safe you a LOT of money?? Is a lot of money to you a couple of thousand baht or so??

I doubt if he's referring to himself, just the majority of the population.

So golf courses can re-open ??

If I go golfing, can I order a beer there?

Surely not. My stock of beer is running out, so I'll be forced to switch to whiskey. ????

Maybe, if the owners of Thai Bev and Boon Rawd had offered him a few billion Baht when he asked for it, then we'd now be back in the land of free-flow alcohol. It sounds like somebody's having a hissy fit in the government.

Exactly.  Just makes good mature sense doesn't it and shows concern for the welfare of the community.

Exactly. You cant argue with the scientific fact that alcohol abuse is more prevalent during a time of crisis and stress.

I wouldn't say that too loudly, might be the next thing they go after. Just about ANY other country is starting to look real nice right now.

Yeah I don't understand that at all. What does it have to do with coronavirus ?

Restaurants are allowed to open, I believe it's as simple as that.

Instead of going to a bar everyone will go to a restaurant and sit there drinking, so they prevent that by cutting off the supply.

Massive over reaction and a big mistake.

How much Tax on a bottle of wine in Thailand?

Some say that it takes 3 weeks to change habits, good or bad. Now we have ample of time to do just that.

Yup, I'm going to spend all that saved money on hookers from now on. Never been able to do that. Always been too drunk.

Yes and look at the amount of Covid-19 cases in those other countries... :coffee1:

Most tropical countries have no issues. Are you implying that alcohol spreads Covid19 :p?

Do you remember the yesterday proposal, sales will only reopen 1st and 2nd of may.

What we know today:

- the ban will finish tonight à midnight

- the ban will restart 3rd may

... then what about 1st and 2nd of may ?
