The end of socialising

It would seem that self isolating i.e. keeping I 1/2 m away from other people and wearing facemasks is going to be the norm for a long time especially as there is a big chance of the second wave of more serious infections.
There will probably be enough of the Covid N95 facemask eventually produced  for everybody to wear them. They do give considerable protection against the virus. They are the ones being used by doctors and medical staff when treating infectious patients. So if this is the case how are we gonna socialise I can't imagine going into a pub or bar and sitting with a facemask I 1/2 m away from everyone else. Waitresses will have to wear full protective clothing and there won't be any cuddling. What about all the bar girls will they be a thing of the past? Who would want to have sex with them risking catching the virus. They are particularly vulnerable because they go out and have close proximity with dozens of different people. Have you seen the new AirAsia air hostesses proposed dresscode.? Because it seems that socialising as we know it will be no longer possible. In fact  no bars or pubs in the future?  Without the sex trade Pattaya will hardly survive as a major resort, especially with no bars or nightclubs massage parlours and pubs. What do you think?

I think as you mentioned it may be the norm for 6 - 12 months , however once the figures become so minimal on infections and death it won't be significant and i expect the vaccine will be available, so one would think after this time folks will stop wearing masks and slowly go back to how it was pre-covid. imo

I agree. But how will all the places I mentioned  survive during that period?

I suppose many will close down and try to re-open when things are better, however many bars, restaurants and the likes will probably never come back until their are sufficient numbers of customers.

I believe we are well on the way to herd immunity. Once that is established, things will slowly return to normal. Timeframe? Cannot say. But I would think before year end.

Less that 3000 infections since March. Say you multiply that by 10 or 20.  So 60,000 infections out of 70 million, about 1/10 of 1%. 

Of course would be best if we all had a simple blood test we could give to anyone we wanted "relations" with (like a blood sugar diabetes test)

 

Believe me, many are still partaking in the "massage" trade here in Pattaya

No one has died from the virus here in Pattaya for the last 3 weeks, and none hospitalized in the last 3 weeks.  Several ladies i know never left

Herd will keep growing once tourists are let back in.  Unless you are saying worldwide we are on our way to herd immunity, which may also be true by year end

I don't know the current numbers. But I am pretty sure there are more people in Thailand who are HIV positive compared to people with Covid-19. And how many guys keep that in mind when they have contact with the girls?

I know it's not exactly the same but fact is it's still a lot more likely to get killed by a car in Thailand compared to probably any other way to die.

Enjoy life! There is always a little risk involved.

They won’t. Some will survive but it will never be the same in terms of numbers of bars or customers. It was scaling down before the pandemic, this has just accelerated it. 
 

There will still be plenty of ladies available for those who want whether it be in bars or Internet. 
 

As for punters caring about whether they have COVID or not........lol

Ha ha, I think if Covid 19 is your biggest worry when knocking off bar girls. then you need to seriously consider giving up paying for it.

In Thailand testing for Covid will be totally discouraged and people will just be deemed to have flu or dengue or pneumonia etc ... any deaths will be declared with a cause as an underlying condition and not tested for Covid. 

 

Thailand will declare itself virtually Covid free and encourage normal life to go on and just ignore a rather increased mortality rate and sickness among some of the population.

 

The generals coffers wont get emptied and they and the other rich Thais have access to immediate superb medical care so they dont worry so much.

 

A few hundred thousand extra deaths of the peasants, well nothing to see there move along please.

This is part of the propaganda: the chance is not big but very remote.

 

It comes from a comparison with the Spanish flu, which was a different kind of virus.

 

As of now, there has not been a second wave of a coronavirus...see for example SARS 1 in 2003.

 

What could happen, on the other hand, is a resurgence of the actual wave, notably in the West, where populations are released even though the number of daily new cases is still running high.

Not to crash the economy, but to have an excuse for a crash that was coming anyway...talk about an opportunity.
