Foreigners in Thailand can register for vaccine from June 7

Foreigners in Thailand will be able to register to receive the COVID-19 vaccination from June 7, Natapanu Nopakun, Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

Foreigners will need to register on site at vaccination centres or at  a hospital, Mr Natapanu said.

Foreigners will need to register with either their social security number or passport number to receive the free vaccination.

The rollout of the vaccine to foreigners will take place at the same time as Thai nationals, Mr Natapanu said.

Once registered, foreigners will be given an appointment date in which they will receive their vaccine.

Some vaccination centres may have appointments available on June 7 and therefore can be vaccinated right away. Others may have to wait for a later date to be vaccinated.

“I believe I am giving you quite good news,” said Mr Natapanu.

Mr Natapanu also tweeted the images below regarding the vaccination process for foreigners in Thailand.

Meanwhile, prior to the announcement during the daily press briefing, Mr Natapanu tweeted to explain that a mobile app to  facilitate registrations will now not be developed.

This is because Thailand does not have a central database for foreigners residing in the kingdom, with data spread across multiple agencies.

"The issue with pre-registrated appointments on applications is verification of data spread across multiple agencies. CCSA resolved that for foreign nationals, it would be "on-site registration". Specific agencies have been assigned, and a modality set, for each group", Mr Natapanu tweeted

Happy days. Just wonder how long after the 7th June any of us will actually get the jab and if we will have any say in which one we get.

But what about the foreigners here in Thailand on tourist visas? Still lots of them here, they aren’t expats or residents as such. Are tourists still including in this ? I asked billy barrow and he said “it’s not known”

Good question.

Do today's announcements always supercede previous ones?

We're ahead of the game. I registered at Pattaya Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Jab will be Moderna done in October.

At last some positive news from Pattaya !!

But I was waiting for the May 24th rollout of the English Vaccine Registration Website?  Also, if one is registered this does not guarantee one will actually get vaccinated.  How many doses of the vaccine(s) will be needed to vaccinate all eligible Thai Nationals and all foreigners as well?  70, 80 90 or 100 Million?  Of course this presumes two does per person.

This could be a NATO operation:  No Action Talk Only.

What was not clear to me - as it specifically relates to Bangkok - is whether the two registration centers (Vimut and Bang Rak) are the only places to register or can we go to the hospital that has our medical records as well? Given the number of foreigners in Bangkok, I am doubtful that there will be any same day jabs.

I plan to wait until at least august because they will change the program daily until then. No point at all to listen to anything before then.

The immigration system can only hold 89 days worth of data, it needs "reminding".
