This is what happens when you have cowards in power. They weren’t brave enough to make the decision before Songkran.

 

They had that partial lockdown that didn’t do anything for the last two months except <deleted> restaurants.

 

Now we have this incompetent mess.

the thing is that the public needs to have a certain mind set that testing is good. It tells you about your health. Do it weekly, stay informed about your body. Take isolation measures if positive. Then people WANT to be tested.

 

in Thailand you have the opposite. Testing costs money, testing positive means you are punished.

 

leadership is required to get the nation pulling together because everybody is in the same boat. Consistent messaging re: Covid prevention behavior, testing, isolating if positive, vaccination. Over and over. 
 

nonsense about tourists coming, opening in 120 days etc, just promotes the wrong message that everything is ok and that the nation is not in a fight against a virus that can wreak havoc if not checked.

 

 

 

yup. people do what they are incentivized to do if they feel its in their own interest.

 

my family recently all came down with a cough. faced with 4 x 3500 baht test cost + likely family split up, toddlers god knows where, mom and dad likely somewhere else.. we decided to man it out & self-isolate at home. and we have money, i fear those without will run miles rather than be tested.

 

but who knows? maybe they want it like that.. it does afterall keep the numbers down (in the short term anyway..)

I look at this and I am reminded of the geniuses on here saying Thailand's doing so well because of the weather. Even some so-called Thai experts were saying this.

Anyone can also pick up at a pharmacy 2 x 7 packs of rapid lateral flow test kits free of charge to enable a test every 3/4 days for those not having any symptoms but could still be passing it on.

Pity Thailand didn’t move some of the TAT budget from tv ads to test kit provision. It would help tourism a lot more in the long run.

A total of 3,995 new cases were reported Sunday, 45 of which were found in prisons and 3,915 found elsewhere in Thailand over past 24 hours. 1,725 (+63) patients are in critical condition, with 489 (+19) of them are on ventilator.

- 1,352 via pro-active tests at known clusters

Of the 3,915 local cases (excluding the cases in prisons & imported cases), the highest numbers by province were 1,370 in Bangkok followed by 289 in Samut Sakhon, 231 in Samut Prakan, 195 in Nonthaburi, 189 in Pattani and 155 in Chonburi.

Could well be.  But otherwise the blue curve is a pretty clean exponential through June. Likely from growth of India_delta.

They reported that this incidence was caught on cctv, and this is how the person got infected. This was the delta variant. It's well known that the delta variant is very transmissible.

Still stuck in Blackpool and yesterday they had a pop up vaccine van in the town, sit down , give details and get injection within 15 minutes. 

 

Seems to me people would rather take the vaccine than take a test due to potential financial knock on effects

Oz friends tell me it's a walk in the park. Drop into vaccine centre. No appointment. Show your Medicare card or other id if you don't have one.

Oh they still have those, but downtown LA is not where you find CVS or Walmarts, those are on the outskirts of the city in towns like Pasadena, Glendale, Artesia, long Beach and so on.  Most of those in line probably work in the skyscrapers.
