Its actually cheaper than Sinovac.

I've seen price quote for Pfizer ranging from $15 to $20

Sinovac is a consistent $10.

On the other hand the AZ vaccine is priced at about $4

Maybe this is why Thailand has no visor big brother is blocking them just like they blocked Taiwan?

Reuters: Taiwan's Foxconn, TSMC confirm $350 mln COVID-19 vaccine deal.

Probably not.  Thailand has a bad reputation for copyright violations.  There are more countries more suitable in Asia to produce Vaccines safely and without risk of corruption and copyright violations.

Vietnam has plans to produce either Moderna or Pfeizer.

Foxconn in Taiwan is ready to go with few modifications.  Great.

At least Pfeizer works.

AZ isn't much good with Delta and the manufacturer is constantly breaking down in Thailand.

Sinovac for free is still no good if doesn't work

Whatever the truth of your comments, they're hardly a defense for getting your facts wrong.

An anonymous poster cites an alleged anonymous family member. Impressive.

What do you want? All their names and addresses?

Well, statistics like this aren't so much about the health system as they are about the legal system.

China actually has a scandalous recent history in regard to vaccines. One of the chief offenders was Sinovac.

Thailand just paid 6.1 billion baht on 10.9 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine.

So Sinovac works out around Bt560 per shot ($17)

I guess that Sinovac is now taking advantage of it being a seller's market. And that's the most charitable explanation I can come up with. Others less savory do come to mind.

There are a multitude of factors at play here that make it utterly impossible to decipher these figures, which may be good, bad, or just as expected.

No vaccine is a magic bullet, and that goes for Pfizer et al, which last week earned a black label health warning, and also proved to be of much lower effectiveness than first thought.

We can say however that most vaccines (if not all) do a wonderful job of greatly reducing severe illness.

Also, definitely not the time or place (Thailand) to be picky.

618 out of 677,348 medical personnel who received two doses of Sinovac testing positive amounts to 0.09%. And what’s the false positive rate?

The Thai government ignored the sad results in Brazil for the Sinovac vaccine.  Asian pride requires the use of a Chinese vaccine.  While there is no magic bullet against Covid-19,  I refuse to take less than the best vaccine against it.  Right now that appears to be Moderna!

Some idea of vaccine cost from leaked document.

  • AstraZeneca: €1.78
  • Johnson & Johnson: US$8.50
  • Sanofi/GlaxoSmithKline: €7.56
  • Pfizer/BioNTech: €12.00
  • Curevac: €10.00
  • Moderna: US$18.00

Sinovac has been reported to be between $5 per dose, based on WHO figures and from manufacturer to $14 as reported in India. Reminds me of an old story about corruption in these southeast Asian countries - under the table, on the table and including the table.

Probably right on that.

But its impossibly to know for sure without transparency.

The Sinovac deal looks shady.

Curevac is out of the picture.

Unfortunately only 48% efficiency  rate and didn't make the cut.

  • Curevac: €10.00

Sinovac purchases made by Thailand aren't known.

I may be right.

Sounds more like your cousins have an axe to grind.

That is not the case in the UK.

you can, free of charge test yourself. The kits are readily available nationwide.

Maybe Scotland is the exception under the current 'misadministration' of the SDP

What has the situation here got to do with test kits in the uk?

Get a brain if you dont have the axe to grind.

Ouch.  Thats pricey for garbage.

This doesn't include the usual padding the price for distribution.

Their drugs were mis and/or overprescribed in millions of cases, encouraged no doubt by the manufacturers. All this China bashing comes at a cost. Ignore what's happening in your own back yard. Opioid addiction, contaminated blood transfusion, cocaine. It's so easy to point the finger at China when you have so many problems back home.
