The Thai Cabinet Committee yesterday, July 13th, has approved the draft Space Affairs Act, granting Thailand the opportunity to enter a new future of space technology and exploration.

Following his own statement in December, the Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Minister Anek Laothamatas told the Associated Press that the law would bring benefits to the country in a wide range both economically and socially as a foundation for the country’s “New Space Economy” since the aerospace industry has been operating in Thailand with investment from the government, and both Thai and foreign private companies.

He said: “This draft law has been updated to support the future of Thailand. Because today’s space technology is growing rapidly, many space-related activities also occurred that were operated by government sectors, private agencies, universities or even schools with cooperation from agencies in the country and abroad.”

Bunch of loonies, surely they would be better trying to sort out the GIGANTIC mess they have helped create, you know, lack of vaccines for the people, than waste their time on a silly notion that Thailand will ever become a space technology country.

And it was not even a Friday the 13th when they decided to ensure that the new act would be named after the ability to take a Gik into space by aptly naming the new program the SpAA (Space Affairs Act).  On top of that:

Surely that has to be a spelling mistake? Shouldn't it be DAFT Space Affairs Act?

What wonderful news! I can't think of anything better for the government to spend taxpayers' on with the country ravaged by out of control pestilence. This is even better value for taxpayers than the submarines.

I could make some suggestions as to just where the "space" in question is located. :whistling:

in the Head of the Dept for starters

They need to keep their feet planted firmly on the ground,

and get the simple things done like making sure the electricity

does not go off everytime it rains or the wind blows, maintain

better water pressure, only live 5 Km, from water plant, but

so low sometimes,I can <deleted> harder.

Put more money into education, learn more English, and better

skills for the workers,so they can improve their and their families

lives, Covid 19 you really messed that up, and you want a space

program ... only if you send the PM up first, there is so much to

do on the ground......

I think the first planet they need to go to is not a planet but a bright and flaming star, send the heads of all ministries so they chat with Mr. Sun himself up close and personal.....or they could fly into PrayAtins Uranus

Good to see this guy rocking the old Joe 90 specs. Appropriate as well given the ludicrous nature of the plot line of the tv series- a boy downloading others ideas into his brain and taking them on as his own.

Another day,

Yet another utterly stupendous idea.

As many others have said, get your country into any gear first!  Sort out the vaccines, sort out education, the roads, infrastructure etc etc etc....before you even start to think of such grandiose ideas!

Amazing Thailand indeed!

Surely it would have been better to publish this on 1st April? Give everybody a good laugh.

They have, and it is just those senses of co-operation, ingenuity and zest for life (together with the ability to make the most astonishing things with bamboo) which should be harnessed to help move this country forward.

Not this sort of idiotic programme, which will inevitably just be a nice little earner for a variety of "good people"!

It's a great time to announce space affairs as most of the country is currently barking at the moon trying to survive 600791911_ThinkingSam.png.f47b8d0d47bdf93b713a7c76c19d7ea2.png

Would the drivers of this new space economy be called Bar Beer Space or Bar Space Beer?

Someone has to serve the needs of the upcoming crop of space billionaires.  But I bet the LT rates will be astronomical.

Not bad for a country that hasn't yet mastered basic concepts like drains, indoor plumbing, safe electric wiring, underground power lines etc.

"Space exploration in Thailand"

Off to a good start

It crosses my mind that in days gone well past the terminology usually used was "Outer Space".

"Space" is quite a convenient reference methinks.

A tangible personal reference that fits such ambiguity would be readily available space in my nominated  tax haven Bank Account.
