Huge crowds at Bang Sue vax center: Health minister Anutin says "it can't be helped", sources

Thai media Sanook and Daily News reported on online posts from two of Thailand most recognised celebrity presenters and journalists.

Both posted pictures of huge crowds lining up without a hint of social distancing outside the Bang Sue Grand Central Station vaccination center in northern Bangkok yesterday morning.

Sanook said there were walk-ins who were elderly, 12 weeks pregnant and people weighing over 100 kilograms.

They focussed on a post by TV presenter and celebrity Sorayuth Suthassanachinda.

His post was rife with comment about the danger of Covid-19 clusters and people asking why vaccinations could not be moved elsewhere in Bangkok or to the provinces.

They cited their sources as saying that Thailand DPM and Health Minister - the much villified Anutin Charnvirakul - as saying that the mess could not be helped.

They would have a meeting about it in the afternoon.

Meanwhile Daily News used a similar post from veteran journalist and former stalwart at The Nation, the much respected Suthichai Yoon who said:

"The situation at Bang Sue is continuing - is there no one there sorting it out?"

ASEAN NOW reported earlier that calls had been made to organizers at Bang Sue to alleviate the overcrowding problems by coming up with a better crowd control system.

This clearly had not been done.

Our reporter there on Sunday reported scenes of some haphazard confusion but nothing like the pictures in the media yesterday.

Panic has set into Bangkok and neighbouring provinces and Government cannot or will not deal with the consequences. Scary.

If you keep your masses uneducated, that's what you get.

get your cluster!  get your cluster here!

Upon visiting Ban Chang hospital to enquire about a Covid jab I was advised "Falang go to Bangkok" when I pointed out that Bangkok was a covid infestation waiting to spread and the idea of standing for hours surrounded by many possibly infected throngs, I was met with a baleful stare and a shrug of the shoulders, suffice to say I still await my vaccination. Those pictures tell me that I made the correct decision.

There were two queues. One to get infected and the other for the vaccine

Very sad situation, that was entirely preventable.

They want to send a man to space, but they can't even work out how to put 2m spacers on the floor to help social distancing?

No doubt this meeting's main agenda will be to choose the personnel who will plan the formation of a committee. Sole purpose of this committee will be to identify a future time and place to form a committee to examine the problem. This committee will then report its findings to another group of select politicians who will have to go abroad on a fact finding mission, in order to ascertain the way forward. oh, almost forgot, there will be a sub-committee to oversee the distribution of expenses.

So Thailand finally becomes the hub of something. ????

And that is the reason i just keep myself in Pattaya /Jomtien "house arrest" safe isolation ...., safer than become vaccinated in "that crowded packed to each other" situation ...  as your jab is only  effective 2 weeks later ... mean time you have much chance to attract  the virus in that crowd

I do not understand that the high risk /aged vulnerable farang , risk the travelling to  deep red Bangkok area  to mix in that ????

Can not be helped because of your own incompetence and denial of the facts

Dont the USA and other European countries have a huge surplus of vaccines.

If we forget the lunatics need for back handers and buying the Chinese gunk for a moment.

Isnt it possible otherwise to procure enough decent vaccines for 70 million within a month get them distributed around the country and job done........if it means saving lives and stopping the thousands waiting for hospital care from increasing.

May be real logistical reasons why this is not possible as in their simply arent 70 million vaccines available right now anywhere for immediate shipment.

What's that? the hub of incompetence....and a couple of weeks back Mr Uncle General 'Big Too' Chan-o-Cha took 100% responsibility for all things Covid, which in Govtspeak means telling other people to do stuff then not following up on whether it has been done, a sure way to ensure nothing ever happens.

Not sure what's worse, the state of affairs at Bang Sue or the state of affairs at Sanook And Daily news who just report from online reports?!

Things seem to be going so well since the PM took over the vaccine program and distribution, that is if the intent was to spread covid like crazy.  Anutin is an engineer placed there to sell weed.  No-one ever expected this keystone kop would have to deal with a pandemic.  He should never have been there in the first place.

Complete confusion and no organisation at all. Stupidity at its best.

cant they follow logic and set up centers in different areas and work by age group., the eldest, and most vulnerable first week, etc etc etc.
