More Covid-19 infections and fatalities from the Delta mutant will be increased in Thailand if there is no proper vaccine allocation in the next 100 days, a Pulmonary disease specialist of Vichaiyut Hospital stated online today, August 12th.

Dr. Manoon Leechawengwongs of Vichaiyut Hospital predicted the Covid-19 situation in Thailand via his online statement that the number of domestic infections and deaths from the Covid-19’s Delta mutant will continue to increase regardless of how intense the lockdown measures are.

The status read: People’s homes have become the place where high infections occurred overall, so some lockdown measures should be relaxed immediately before the Thai economy became even worse. The current measures are only hurting the economy and the people and not stopping the spread of Covid-19. Vaccines are the answer here not tighter restrictions, curfews, and lockdowns.”

what allowing import by private hospitals, without the government interaction and without taxes?

From the very beginning of  year some 3 hospital networks wanted to buy some 20mln sinovac. They were blocked.

There were few other attempts for some other vax.

So now moderna import is curtailed to only 5mln, from which 1mln for the red cross/army

And in Australia the  presence of  two  new cases  prompts a shut down in Canberra and immediately MP's  head for the airport to  go home? 555

I just hope someone will eventually  provide a single explanative word for the >>>> being distributed to the world.

Got this today from the hospital where I've ordered the Moderna vaccine. Obviously, it's suffering from having gone through Google Translate.

Indeed.....send all the ankle biters back to school so they can spread covid to all and bring it into the family home and visa versa.

I don't necessarily agree with the good Dr, if however the government gets their act together and finally gets hold of valid vaccines & not the pile of poo from you know where, then start an aggressive vaccination strategy right across the country then good, and as soon as people have had their 2nd dose of a vaccine that works then they can start to mingle & maybe go back to work a couple of weeks later.

Then the economy starts to recover, people start earning & spending, the government can start to organise booster shots for everyone and keep their citizens safe, look at the UK today, the economy grew by 4.8 % in the last quarter, why ? Because people have been vaccinated, the vaccine works, people are starting to go back to work, people have money to spend.

All this government wanted was their own production facility, to milk it financially along with you know who, now they are the most hated & despised people on the planet, they will soon be out of office and with any luck the Move Forward party will take over, rip up the fake/corrupt constitution and finally this country will start forward.

Great advice. Can the good doctor advise the Thai govt where immediately it can get hold of these vaccines.

Ban the export of AZ vaccine produced locally?  That would not sit well with AZ.  Does AZ provide components or precursors to Siam Bio?  If so, they could cut them off.

They know where to get them.  But FCPA gets in the way of all but the Sputnik and Sino varieties.  The underlying message to the Thai gub'ment is that sometimes public welfare should come before graft and corruption.

Really? They know where to get them? And you know that how? Do you know where to get some of these vaccines for immediate delivery?

The problem is that lockdown in Thailand means congregation of too many people in a small space. The good doctor is recognising that Thailand is a desperately poor country in which "lockdown" enforces close proximity. It has therefore achieved the opposite effect. The likes of myself and others, who can (and have) seriously locked down for 2 months, (viz not been out of my condo into the great metropolis of Bangkok), is not an option available to the majority of the Thai population, in Bangkok, or elsewhere. For the MoPH not to have recognised the reality of life of ordinary Thais speaks volumes. The economy has been substantially destroyed, and, along with a slow, (but improving vaccination rollout?) is the main reason Thailand's recovery will be slow and painful. The case numbers (if they are true) are relatively low, and the encouraging (if true) statistic, is that recoveries from infected persons are higher than new cases. Death numbers are also low. None of this is a cause for celebration, but a reality check, and a more pragmatic approach are certainly needed.

If they hadn't held out for tea money over the past year, they'd have plenty in stock already from months ago.  The sad thing is that they're still holding up the orders today.  They need 100 million doses.  How many have they actually ordered?  Not discussed.  Not planned.  Not negotiated.  Ordered, with a delivery date?

I agree with that absolutelty and unreservedly. But the doctor said they need vaccines now. Where will they come from? Sinovac and Sinopharm are the only ones that may be available in large quantities immediately. And it's not yet known how effective they are at dealing with the Delta variant.

Where do they go after school or after work? ......They go home to the little spaces that enforces close proximity.

But the families will still be in that small space when the day is done, they live in that space regardless of whether there is a lockdown or not.

They have been proven to be inaffective or less affective against the Delta variant as confirmed by the US and others.

I put the Sino's under the category of "better than nothing".  If the mRNA's and AZ didn't exist, people would be jumping all over a vaccine that reduced their odds of dying by 50%.  The reality is that the mRNA's are a long way out in Thailand.  The most reasonable course of action would be to jab people with the Sino's they can buy today, then fortify it with mRNA or AZ as soon as it's available.

The biggest fear is that getting the Sino would preclude them from their preferred vaccine in the future.  Either because their name shows up as "fully vaccinated" or because some idiot in gub'ment decides not to order enough mRNA and AZ because they got the Sino's.  Both are easy for the gub'ment to neutralize by declaring the Sino's will be fortified as soon as they get the doses they ordered.  Of course, that means they have to order them.   Not discuss them, not plan them...

Then instead of 20,000 cases and 200 deaths a day, they can cut it by 50% while waiting on the good stuff.  That's a lot of lives saved, even if it's not all of them.

This can hardly be called a lockdown and the current infection rates support his comments. The alternatives have positive and negative outcomes as well.

Very true; it's encouraging that alternatives are being voiced.  Some lockdown fetishists seem to think the lockdown should be forever!  Thailand isn't Australia.

Even 50% effective would be saving around 100 lives and 10,000 cases a day.  Better than no jabs at all.
