It was an extraordinary robbery - reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde except this one only involved a woman.

At 1.30 pm yesterday Pol Capt Sombat Saraleuk of the Klaeng police in Rayong, eastern Thailand, received reports of a gold shop robbery by a woman who then fled in a car with 5 baht weight of gold.

It happened at the Ploiphailin shop in Klaeng. Other officers were sent to intercept the robber.

Owner Anchalee, 53, understandably in shock, said after she had recovered her composure that the female wore a black shirt and long cream colored pants.

She had feigned an interest in various jewelry before grabbing 5 baht's worth and fleeing her shop.

She cried out and her husband emerged from the back of the store with a wooden chair and tried to confront the robber getting into a white Vios.

He hurled the chair at the car but it drove off at speed in the direction of Mae Phim Cape.

Officers gave chase along the getaway route and found the car abandoned. It only had a registration on the front.

It was completely smashed up after colliding with some trees in large flowerpots by the side of the road, reported Sanook.

She then stole a Yamaha Fino that still had its key in the ignition from a person who came to help her following the accident. She then headed back towards Klaeng.

The cops doubled back in chase.

In the car they discovered a Thai ID in the name of Sawaros Siangprasert aged 38 from an address in Muang district of Rayong who they assumed was the robber.

Also in the car was a registration plate different to the one on the car's front, a black top, an employee identification from a Rayong company and two gold chains.

She seemed to have taken the rest of the loot.

People at the accident scene obviously didn't know she was a robber and had tried to help her. They reported she was wearing a cream top and cream pants.

She tried to hitch a lift from passing vehicles before stealing the motorcycle.

CCTV informed police she acted alone before she switched her clothes in the car. Her ID picture matched the robber at the store.

They believe she is still in the Klaeng area and have studied CCTV to try and locate her.

No she has Stupidity or Covid related poverty desperation

Desperate people do desperate things, was it to feed her kids

or gambling , maybe drugs, most likely the latter. Police should

have her by now...

Just read this morning about another gold shop robbery, also yesterday, in Bangkok's Udom Suk area.

Seems to become a very common occurrence. Guess, all those 'employed

people' (unemployment rate of 1.96%) want to make some extra money during their lunch break...

Nice photo! You can run, but you can not hide!

But no brains.

Will she now trade the stolen gold to get her damaged car back?

you don’t need to steal if she is driving around in a car…sell the car and take Uber

Imagine being married to someone like this woman, a real balls breaker if you do or say the wrong thing...

May have stolen the car, or could not afford repayments, so robbed for them.

Hm,...I wouldn't call someone with visibly low intellect, robing a jewelry store with there own car and leaving an I.D. card behind. Someone with guts !?,...stupidity comes to mind.

Geez., there you go again "most likely it was to buy drugs".   Why is that the most likely scenario?

Saw it on the news yesterday and it looked like the 5 baht of gold was still in the car so i don't know what they mean with , she took of with the rest .

The article said that she stole five baht weight of gold, two chains were left in the car , some was missing, it didn't say that it was just one item that was stolen.

scobalob

You would think gold shops would have electric door locks so that people can only leave when the owner presses a button.

I also didn't say it was only 1 item but if you saw this story on the news and you saw the neckless that was left in the car( don't know if you ever saw a 5baht gold neckless) it looked like that neckless was already 5 baht . Having a bit of a bad day Lou?? I didn't attack you in any way just stated what i saw on the television news . Don't understand why you feel the need to defend yourself.

Obviously someone that has not much criminal experience. Maybe driven to desperation by debt, losing her job etc.

1. I had a great day.

2. I didn't say that you attacked me.

3. I was not "defending myself" because...

4. There was no reason for me to "defend myself".

"...don't know if you ever saw a 5baht gold neckless..."  [sic]

Seen a 5  baht gold "neckless" what?

Why wouldnever have seen a five baht gold necklace, they're hardly uncommon.

I’m kinda a fan of Worgeordie ... a lot of posts / comments come from long term residence knowledge.. I just saw the video someone posted.., the shop should have noticed something

was up... the alleged robber either had to use the toilet or just has a nervous pace about her...

maybe when theses shops suspect something they should ask for ID before putting gold on the

counter... ..
