Popular Post webfact Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 Picture: Sanook Sanook reported mayhem at a public vaccination point in Sriracha as scuffles threatened to break out. Earlier Phyathai Sriracha Hospital had announced they would be accepting walk-ins for Pfizer jabs at Sala Prachakhom in their district. People started arriving at 8pm on Monday night for yesterday's jabs. Those first in the queue took it upon themselves to mark their arms with magic marker numbers to indicate they were first in line. By 9 am the crowd had swelled to 1,000 people and trouble was breaking out as to who came first as social distancing went out the window. People had come from Rayong, Chachoengsao and Nonthaburi, noted Sanook who suggested there was widespread fury and disappointment about the number of vaccines. Eventually Dr Wichai Thanasophon, deputy medical officer of Chonburi province, and other medical staff were called to sort out the mess. Local people were prioritised for vaccination and those from other districts in Chonburi and further afield were told to go home. This they eventually did though reluctantly meaning the situation calmed down. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-09-01 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 3 3

Popular Post smedly Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 why can they not adopt the same process as they do for farangs - over 60 or at risk with certain conditions - register online - send out appointment day and time an unorganised freeforall is not the answer The blame for this cluster sits squarly with Anutin and Payuth and everybody knows it. 7 1

Popular Post richard_smith237 Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 My Wife went for her 2nd AZ shot at Emporium a couple of days ago. It was very busy. Some genius decided to group 3 day’s worth of vaccination on one day in one location (ie. This vaccinated on 7-8-9 June all told you get 2nd shot on 30th !!) Wife said is was organized but very busy - definitely a potential spreader event. Not sure what the logic is behind this policy of crowding ppl together for the vax. 3 1
Popular Post James105 Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 Did the hospital forget they were providing a medical procedure and not selling playstation 5s? It's all a bit survival of the fittest for the locals when it comes to the jabs here isn't it. What older person who is genuinely vulnerable to the virus is going to be able to queue (illegally due to curfew) overnight to ensure they are first in the line? 4 1
Popular Post Leaver Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 Things like this have the ability to become a super spreading event. Vaccinated 200 people, but cause the infection, and possibly death, of many others. 6 3

Popular Post Isaan sailor Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 This proves something—that people know the difference between a good vaccine, and mediocre (at best) vaccine. 3
chilly07 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Not surprising as Chonburi hasn't got any Vaccines for Thais! 1

Popular Post aussienam Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 This is quite a sad and depressing article as it reveals the unfair disparity of privilege between the wealthy, the expats and the poor downtrodden Thai citizens. I am an expat who was privileged to obtain my Pfizer shot. But, all around me are Thais who have got nothing and face at best, a shot of Sinovac for the time being, that is ineffective against Delta COVID19. Are their lives less important than mine? They ask me how did I get Pfizer, when they cannot? And they are citizens here. And here I read there being only a piddly 200 Pfizer shots offered and desperate Thais scrambling to get it. I didn't have to. I just registered on a site and strolled down to the vaccination centre. The article reveals the fear and desperation going on by these poor Thai people, who don't want to die. Definitely not something to make fun of. I could explain away to myself that I am helping to protect others from being infected and that I need Pfizer to travel abroad. That is true. But when the deaths of infected unvaccinated Thais continue, I feel guilty and a hypocrite. 7 4

Vast majority of expats did not receive Pfizer. 7 1

Popular Post pomchop Posted September 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2021 Meantime in USA there are thousands of TV ads daily with all kinds of doctors, scientists, celebrities, etc BEGGING people to get a FREE shot, your choice of Pifzer, Moderna, Johnson, at thousands of clinics, pharmacies, state fairs, etc. Many states offer $100 gift cards or entries into $million lotteries if you will get a shot. Most often no appointments required and if you can't get to clinic they will come to your house. After months of begging people to get the shots and readily available data showing over and over that those who get the shots odds of having major problems are a very small percentage of their odds of ending up in hospitals or dying or having major problems....still they refuse and the unvaccinated continue to fill hospitals to overflowing denying ICU beds to the thousands of people who need care for heart attacks etc. Everyday the news is full of the hospitalized unvaccinated or their relatives bemoaning that they SHOULD have gotten the vaccine. And now with school starting and kids under 12 can't get the shot their unvaccinated parents infect the kids, shutting down schools and filling more beds then ever with sick kids. While people like to say "you can't fix stupid" covid does often "fix" stupid. Maybe the USA should put a deadline that if you don't get the shots by x date we will donate the vaccines to countries like Thailand where people are BEGGING for the shots. Maybe more insurance companies in USA should also raises rates (which is starting to happen) for unvaccinated rather than raise everyone's rates to cover those who don't trust doctors or science until they get sick then the first place they run to is to doctors and science to save them. It is a simple fact that the virus spreads exponentially faster among unvaccinated and the more it spreads the more likely it is to mutate into even more deadly, contagious versions causing untold health problems as well economic doom for millions of people. 1 1 2

EricTh Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 The lesson is not to have walk-ins if you have limited supply of the vaccine, it's better to have appointments. 2
