Pathumwan police headed by station chief Pol Col Phansa Ommaraphitak raided the Tapas Music Bar by Vaso on the second floor at Central World in downtown Bangkok at 10 pm last night.

 

The place is right next to the Royal Thai Police headquarters on Rama 1 road.

Ninety three men and women patrons as well as the manager were arrested. 

 

They were drinking and listening to music at the fancy bar that has 30 tables, reported Daily News.

 

Phansa said that the restaurant and bar had been warned once about serving alcohol but they persisted in breaking the law.

The manager was charged with serving alcohol and opening after hours and along with patrons was further charged with Covid-19 violations and gathering in a group of more than 50.

 

All those present were taken to the police station for prosecution.

all those present were taking to the police station for prosecution.  Didn't have far to go then.

Almost 100 people charged with violating alcohol ban at Bangkok mall

 

 

Ninety-three people were detained for police questioning and charged on Monday for allegedly selling and/or drinking alcohol at a restaurant and bar in Bangkok, in violation of the COVID-19 restrictions.

 

Police said the restaurant, located in a shopping mall near the Ratchaprasong Intersection, had been warned before about illegal sales of alcohol.

 

On Monday, at around 10pm, the bar was found to be open beyond curfew and to be selling alcoholic drinks illegally to over 30 tables of customers.

Not too many I would imagine.  No Karaoke, no strippers or bar girls so I doubt it would attract that many cops.

Sounds like he police acted reasonably with a warning initially but when the restaurant flouted their warning they applied the big stick. Well done.

Like the United States in the 1920s - Speak-Easy's are all the rage.

For every Thai Speak-Easy busted, a few thousand, if not tens of thousands, are thriving.  This is moralism floated on the back of an 'emergency' which the government would like to continue forever.
Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac!  And absolute power? 
The population wants something different from what the government wants.  And therein, as always, lies the rub.

Maybe it was time for the police party but others had overstayed ..............LOL

They did not know,I think not.They knew and maybe the brown evenlopes were stopped  and the police were there drinking all gone by the time of the raid.They got to get they tea money somewhere
