Extraordinary comments were made by Thailand's Minister of Health and DPM on Thursday evening at a function in Chiang Khan, Loei in the north east, notes ASEAN NOW.

 

Comments that may one day come back to haunt the outspoken minister not well known for being a shrinking violet. 

 

Nearly two years ago he was shouting at a "farang" for not accepting his gift of a mask. Now he was boasting that Thailand was much better than the rest of the world in keeping Covid-19 at bay.

 

Daily News used his nickname "Sia Noo" in their headline. Sia is a name for a rich businessman - Anutin is a billionaire. Noo means mouse (or rat).

 

Mighty Mouse might be an accurate translation though as he presided over an event celebrating the opening up of Thailand it appeared more like Mighty Mouth!

 

Here's what he said.

 

He called Covid "krajork". This is a word for a sparrow but is generally used to mean "inferior" or low class. Visitors to Thailand are sometimes teased with this word if they don't spend much.

 

He said that Covid-19 had devastated the whole world but claimed that Thailand had stood up to it.

 

He dismissed the threat of the new Omicron variant adding that in time people would just need one jab as Covid would be just like a local infection, just like 'flu.

 

He said that Covid couldn't beat the Thai health service that he heads. 

 

"It's no match for our doctors", he boomed.

 

Next year there was tons of vaccine available, he said. You'd be able to get 3, 4 or even five doses of "government vaccine". 

 

There was absolutely no need to "go private" (and pay for it) he spouted in his speech.

So was there any need to close everything down and bankrupt people?. Luckily for Thailand people with lots of cash are taking over the closed businesses and restarting them.

Whether you believe this or not is entirely dependent if you believe the daily covid figures put out by this so called government.  I don’t.

There is a saying that goes that when people think you are a fool it is best to keep your mouth shut and keep the guessing rather than open it and remove all doubt.

Nothing to do with quality of the vaccines Anutin had . Check your facts before you spout .

When people paid for the private hospitals vaccination there were very few options available..what should have been a sensible rollout within a month or so of ordering was hampered by petty government officials like Mighty mouth..what a donkey..eee oooing!

Being boastful may have awed simple folk 1 or 2 generations back, and politicians have overused this particular speech tool to drone out critics and make them superior to anyone else.

Nowadays it just shows how outdated this kind of mindset is.

Thailand stood up to Covid, says the imbecile. Really? So, if that is the case, why can't millions find work? Why is homelessness exploding like never before? Why are suicides skyrocketing?

Extraordinary comments look back to the beginning of the Pandemic when Thailand was boasting a safe country free of Covid and then what happened. Let's hòpe history does not repeat its self with comicron and that he was not under the influence of something else freely available in the Golden Trangle.

I think this is what's known as tempting fate.

After 20,000 plus deaths thanks to his inability to get his citizens quickly vaccinated with good quality vaccines, nothing short of manslaughter IMO.

I always want to throw up when I hear Mighty Mouse speak his total BS.

 

That sounds like an open challenge.  Meanwhile Omicron is doing the "hold my beer" thing.
