You've got to be barking mad to try to come to Thailand for a holiday these days.

In one form or another, it's all about the squeezing of the profits.

Well, love, it's going to be a lot more expensive if you say anything bad about the hotel on your social media. May find the hotel bill and quarantine is the least of your problems

I wouldn't want to come to Thailand for a holiday and spend 10 days in quarantine particularly if I was asymptomatic. Nor would I want to have to pay an ambulance to take me to the quarantine hotel. If you have ever been asymptomatic to the virus and had to endure an over the top response you would understand the frustration. The simple answer is to just not go anywhere overseas for a holiday.

Are they not obliged to arrive with suitable insurance that would cover this eventuality?

Just hope she doesn't start slagging the place off or she will be getting more than a dose of quarantine

And Thailand wonders why no tourists are coming?

You get on a plain negative and hours later Thailand tells you that you are positive and to pay the quarantine.

Sounds suspicious?

No.

Have I missed something here?

Not sure that is the correct word?

I understood besotted to mean infatuated with someone.

For example, I was besotted with my geography teacher ????

Infatuated was not what you were you were just horny ????

So if no one spoke english how did she understand what they told her?

I hope she does mate, they both should be jailed for having names like that! As for her voice, well you wouldn't want to be in the same room as her.

Indeed. Good reason for them to issue a positive result. Same as when positive pregnancy tests were popping up for sale online, for young ladies to show their male companions, for fun and profit.

Has anyone considered that it might be in someway staged, in order to create an audience? There's no such thing as negative publicity.

Maybe if she did things like pre-trip research,

I've never done any research about a holiday trip.

Would suggest the lady was behaving entirely normally to just pay for a holiday and expect to have it.

It's a product currently being sold to the unwary in their home countries.

Maybe some of you should be examining your nasty reactions to innocent holidaymakers.

I'm sorry, regardless of whether this woman makes a TikTock living out outta this stuff it's stupid.

Who in their corn fed mind gets on a long haul flight to any tin pot third world country without knowing the risks that rules will change on a dime, and you risk either deportation or your two week vacation holed up somewhere in quarantine.

No sympathy sorry to say

+1

That's a rich phrase, I'm borrowing that. But I'm going to hyphenate corn-fed

Can you explain how everyone gets on an aircraft with a negative test and then hours later landing in Thailand test positive?

And the miraculous thing is after spending 50,000 baht the quarantine hotel actually cures your positive test?

To clarify...

She must of had insurance.

Would the AXA sawasdee insurance pay for this ?

Unless you've been living under a rock since 2018 you REALLY should be aware of travel risks during this pandemic. ????

After spending 10 days in a great hotel of not her choice maybe she should be on a plane back home. I think she just came here to write a book on how us poor slobs live, not the greatness of living in Thailand.

I really don’t know what they think or how much they know about the risks but it seems to me that these are normal families who probably think traveling to Thailand is the same as traveling in Europe nowadays.

You can be sure  that so far held delusion is going to be very short lived these days.

So the mandatory insurance they make you buy is worthless? With all the tourists getting thrown into hospitals on arrival and getting billed for, it seems a little ridiculous to go there knowing the insurance companies won't pay up. So what is the insurance for actually?

Stop blaming tourists . My advice to travellers : steer clear of Thailand , do NOT come unless you need to be here . E.g. my wife who will somehow has to make it back . She will be carrying a test kit , as this whole quarantine thing is starting to look like a government/hospital/hotel scam .
