Staggering COVID-19 Statistic: 98% to 99% of Americans Dying are Unvaccinated

You're still ignoring the fact that

a)public health systems in poor nations are very unreliable in respect to reporting

b)in lots of these countries, particularly in Africa, median ages are far younger.

For instance, Nigeria, the African nation with the highest population has a median age of 18.1. Compare that to the USA which has a median age of 38.1. More than twice as high. And it's even worse than that looks because the percentage of Americans reaching advanced old age is far higher than it is in Nigeria.

c)obesity rates in high income and middle income countries are mostly far higher than in low income countries

None of this excuses the poor performance of the USA. But that's largely down to politics now, where one segment of the population that's aligned with one political party, has a far lower vaccination rate and a far higher mortality rate than does the other party. Absent forced vaccination, which is a political impossibility, that won't change until enough unvaccinated people become infected so that some sort of equilibrium is achieved.

More and more pressure is being place on the unvaxxed.  From being fired (US Military, T Mobile, etc) to being banned from a variety of facilities to being required to test on a very frequent basis.  Sadly, this is what it takes to get some vaccinated.  Bizarre.  But as you say, it's down to politics and religion mainly.

The article linked in the OP is dated July last year. Why dredge this stuff up again now? Look, you're tearing society apart by waging war against those who have made a choice not to be vaccinated - despite the known risk to themselves - either through stoicism, strong-mindedness, or a well thought-through personal morality which the frail-minded - those who go running to modern medicine for salvation - cannot hope to understand. Kindly cease.

Is that the same stoicism, strong-mindedness, or well thought out personal morality which sends them to hospitals in disproportionate numbers and has tied up resources and placed so much stress on health care workers that they are quitting in record numbers? If they're so stoic, or strong minded, or have a well thought out personal morality, why aren't they accepting the consequences of their decision and leaving the health care system to the rest of us. instead of clogging it up?

I am in South America now, and I have been asked for a vaccination certificate many times while traveling.

Sadly many of the antivaxxers seem to love to argue for the sake of arguing....as my grandmother used to tell me don't try to tell me that water is not wet.

Well they are arguing themselves into an early grave, good move.

would you be referring to morons that died from covid?

Well, the language is way too harsh, but it is a fact that the unvaccinated constitute an outsized percentage of those who die from covid. So even if you do everything correctly to protect yourself there is still a smaller chance that you will die. There are no guarantees.

98% is bad but with nearing only 5-10% of the population over 60 ( most the deaths) not receiving at least 1 shot, much less dramatic. When nearly 100% of the people(60+) are vaccinated would you not expect the number tp be at least 95%???   Everybody seems to be mathematically challenged when it come to politics and covid.

This is fun to watch without a dog in the fight other the my dislike for know it all arrogant fools.

In the US, unvaccinated generally means Republican. Dead Republicans don't vote. This is therefore a good thing.

Sadly. That's a proven fact.

Speaking of the mathematically challenged, why would one expect the vast majority of deaths to be the unvaccinated when the percentage of the unvaccinated is so low?  This is an even higher percentage than previously cited by the CDC? Why do you think that "Everybody seems to be mathematically challenged when it comes to politics and covid."? Maybe you should direct your attention closer to home?

Because vaccination is very effective in preventing death from Covid.

Do you disagree?

Unfortunately, they may take out some innocents on their way to death from Covid.

Now, nearly a year on, with many more people vaccinated, it would be interesting to see the study done again. Would it still be 1% vs. 99%? #

Who knows? But for sure people who are too stubborn to be open minded (either pro or anti vax) will still have their opinion.

Singapore has released detailed statistics recently. Pretty similar story

Unfortunately, dead Democrats somehow still manage to vote.
