If there's only x amount of spots, and 80 - 90% are suddenly from a certain country, how is that fair?

But there aren't X amount of spots.

Greetings.

As you're Russian I would like to ask your opinion about the demographics of the Russians coming here now.

What percentage of the people coming would you classify as "fleeing" the war / avoiding conscription, etc. as opposed to "normal" tourists or expats in times of peace?

Did he respond yet ? don't think so.....

According to some on AN, Thais are racist, after reading through this thread it seems that trait isn't limited to Thais only.

If by that you mean that many of us abhor a welcome given to citizens of a genocidal regime, that has invaded a sovereign State, indiscriminately maiming and killing their way, then I guess those of us who oppose Russians being outside their own cesspit of a country, then racist it is.

"The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ships' logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English traders, but was never colonised by a European power. It formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber and now from tourism."

Russians always keep to there own social community. They are frequent customers in Lotus and Makro and hardly ever set foot in local restaurants or bars.
They have always been a bit anti social.
The ones that are coming now in drives are having family members trying to escape Putins military service and they are loaded with money.
These are the new property owners all over Thailand.

The true face of Thailand. An utter disgrace.

Courting Russia, courting China, suppressing democracy in their own country, the elites and military having a stranglehold in their own country...any surprises here? How much Thailand has changed in the last 30 years.

What makes them all so elite?

I guess the very same criteria that makes 'elites' of other nationalities.

Of course!

All humans are racists. It's in the DNA.

Some are very clever in hiding it - simple as that.

I don't like that any country would either support or claim neutrality towards Russia now, but the Russians coming here are not a monolith. Many for different reasons are escaping the war so the more Russians that are not available to murder Ukrainians the better.

Not all. Before Covid and Ukraine , the Russians coming to the south of France were a pain in the ..

Drink a lot, eat, and then «  offer » the money they want to pay and ignore the amount on the bill ! Seen this so many times that most restaurants/ bars and hotels either refuse them , or take only the ones they know. A good few rich clients who are travel educated, the rest, forget.  I really think they come to Thailand because the prices suit them. They certainly buy up  a good few condos as I saw last year on Kata Beach. Unfriendly and don’t know how to be polite. Poor Phuket !!!!

Can someone explain to me how you can tell they are Russian, or any nationality unless in conversation with them.

I can tell if they are Russian if I say "Hello" or "Good morning" when walking by the beach early in the morning and they totally ignore me.  It's peaceful and uncrowded in the early morning and most people give a friendly reply when you speak to them.  That's not the way of most Russians.  I have been to Russia a few time and have prior experience with Russian people.

I had a young Russian neighbour ( AWOL soldier ) for a couple months, on one of a few conversations he told me about a Russian app that the Russian "community" on Phuket use where they log in and find out where all the Thai police road checks are in place, unbelievable...........infiltration of the Island lol.....

Clever. Maybe they can break the dastardly transport mafia there?

I suspect the Russians have something to do with the new project just coming up out of the ground in Rawai they flattened half the property along the beach front, looks like a huge project for Rawai,

I've heard it's actually Chinese that are building that project but wouldn't be surprised if its Russian

I've seen one small motorbike repair shop run by a Thai man and his wife become a bike rental shop as well with 10 or more bikes and seeing the same foreign man swing by almost daily in a SUV or motorbike for a look around, fronting a business I would guess.......I'm sure there's many more fronted.......
