Can you defend yourself?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Back in July in Pattaya I was in the McDonald's one week night

I walked in to see several young farangs seem to be Europeans ,in their 20's one was dancing ,singing shouting

I'm standing there suddenly he grabs me from the front collar with one hand and tries to pull me into dancing with him.

I was froze for a minute his friends laughing with one pulling out his phone to record

Suddenly this guy gets more violent and grabs my shirt to pull it off me over my head

I used my right hand and swing it down which didn't do much good but off balance is ,no one came to help

The question is Are you able to defend yourself in a situation like that ?

Be honest , can you fight ?

Are you able to defend yourself?

Even if your in America you wouldn't able to use a gun because some drugged kid grabs you do you have to use your own hands

A light punch to the neck and run away is the best form of defence in serious situations where you are under threat.

Too old for any type of fighting now, age 76, in such a situation all I could do is try get away, if I tried to hit a 20 yo he could hit or push me and I'd be flat on my back in a second. I had my fair share of punch ups in my younger days but they're way behind me now, I used to be able to bang 4-5-6 times a night too, and those days are way behind me too. 😄

No, I can't.

But then, until, except maybe two or three times while I was in school, I never needed such skill.

Obviously, it would be nice to be able to defend myself. But I am sure going for a week or two to a "how to defend myself" course won't be good enough. And I don't want to spend hours every week somewhere in a "fight club".

Most likely not, so I carry Fox everywhere I go. A Thai police once asked me what I had in my pocket. I pulled out my Fox mace and showed him. Mace is illegal in Thailand so I was rather apprehensive. Likely for me, he thought it was an asthma inhaler.

Good job he wasn't asthmatic and wanted to borrow it!

So let's get this right.  You're in McDonalds and a young man wants to dance with you.  Then he starts to undress you....

Is it something about you that seems to attract this kind of man? 🙂

Anyone over 60 who thinks they can defend themselves against a 20-30 male was either a trained specialist/professional, or they are delusional. Best course of action is to either walk away - or point out the camera/s that are recording and then walk away (they are everwhere thses days).

Many stupid older blokes get very hurt thinking they can take on a young strong male - dont even think about doing it - just dont do it.

Most young men will be 'nice' and just push you away - but some will beat you up for embarassing them (you know who I mean).

Fighting, no. Defensive blocking, certainly yes. Depending on your physical abilities and martial arts skills, one can calm down a situation quickly. Though the first step is always avoid an escalating altercation by taking a step back and speaking calmly.

Sounds like something Bugs Bunny would say. 😅

I'll knock you into next week.

I'll knock the taste outta your mouth

I'll hit you so hard your mom will fall down

In that scenario - multiple guys and cameras.... de-escalate.

Only the penalty/fine issuing local govt. body benefits.

Plenty of training while young, had to use it just a few times.

Now for me in order to win a fight it will have to be close contact.

Grab me and you will be in for a painful surprise.

Just leave me alone will you?

Anyone can bang many times a night with the help of that little blue pill......but can you fight?

Only a knucklehead would engage in offensive action. Staying confident and calm is an imperative, never engage offensively unless there is absolutely no other option aside from defensive blocking. Outside of a military combat situation or a promoted fight ring, any well trained individual knows this.

He might bludgeon you with his hard on.

In a prefect world you could have turned the other cheek and walked away as gracefully as possible.  In this world acting( literally )  brave and deal with the consequences seems to be  the best option. Most the time it ends with the aggressor backing down for numerous reasons.  You do have to pick your battles though and avoid being beat down hard.  At MC D's s I would have made my stand for better or worse because of video cameras and other people around.

Poster should only be allowed to use the word "troll" or that matter "deflection" twice a month.  it is sign of intellectual weakness. As for your fighting abilities, good for you.  better to be able to defend yourself than not.  Also great activity to stay fit.
