I get so peeved off when I read posts that just knock Pattaya continually .

I was actually in tears last night reading posts on another forum where the writer was so negative Pattaya

Please let's be grateful

I love Pattaya and as soon as I can I'm going to retire there., but I'm planning in the next few years .

For those of you who haven't retired what's your dream about living in Pattaya ?

Mine is to live in the Arcadia resort in Soi 5 Jomtien and walk to the RAGE fight academy where they have muay  Thai boxing for seniors

Wake up every morning to the sunshine  with a coffee on the balcony , stroll thru my day with the gym and Canterbury Tales bookshop ,

What a life to enjoy in Pattaya

Relax at night in a bar ,enjoy our trip me left

If only I could retire ...we all love Pattaya !! 🤗

Could do worse than have a nice room, maybe larger one in an older building as many of the new ones seem tiny, nice outlook hopefully away from traffic , gym sauna and pool for laps, walk along the beach, nice food that can come to your door, massage, good shopping nearby, opportunities for fun, nice enough beaches, Koh Chang, Bangkok, not far, could be good. Will likely go in 2024 and give it a whirl ... go to Phuket if the heat, pollution, traffic, dodgy types, make it not fun.

35 years living in Thailand ,been all over the North , North East , South and inbetween,

but have never been to Pattaya , just does not appeal to me ,not into spending all day

and night sitting in a bar , but many Expats seem happy to do that .

Pattaya is okay for a trip, bit too touristy to live there. It would be like living in Nana area of Bangkok.

I would say living outside Pattaya on the coast would probably be quite nice.

This explains a lot about the OP's myriad of topics.🤔

I think is a book about this at Canterbury Tales bookshop in Pattaya ,very interesting you bring that up 👌

Look , I checked out the Darkside on my last trip , I did enjoy that big park over there near the football ground but apart from that it doesn't suit me , transport wise

You do understand sitting in bars all day and nights is an 'option', right?

It's not the only thing to do in Pattaya, there's so many other options in and around there.....infact everything one could think of.

I don't live there but visit once or twice a month.

There are no bars here where "All Expats" spend their days drinking (& no "Girlie" bars), people just live a normal Expat retired life (whatever that is) with maybe the odd trip into town, for me that means 1-2 times per month to catch up with friends over a few "Mad Beers" but most of the time we're out in couples having something to eat or will have a guys night out playing pool at a bar around the Lake, there's a fair few decent places to choose from.

Oh & as most of us live here with our long term partners, we don't "Indulge" in the other thing that people who don't know Pattaya think every guy in Pattaya is doing everyday...

Pattaya a great city to live in if you actually live here & are not just here on a monger holiday.

Pattaya?  Perfect, IMO.  I like the idea of not having to travel far for a beer, any time of day, or talking to lovely girl, with a great smile, again, any time of day or night.

I dont get where this mentallity comes from at all, Pattays is so much more than bars! Yes of course they have them and specific areas are dedicated to them and nightlife and so on BUT that is just a part of of it, it isnt its sum total. I dont drink and have NO interest in the bars or the associated activities but visit Pattaya a few times and every time have a great visit. No I wouldnt want to live there as its way too commercial and touristy for my taste but it has alot to offer in wide range for all tastes.

Each to their own and honestly, dont knock it until you ve tried it, ALL of it.

Yeah, it's not perfect but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Phuket is out, everywhere else too boring except Bangkok (I'm not talking about bars) and Bangkok has too much pollution. Maybe in 5 years. For now, Pattaya. Always something happening, they are setting up on the beach for huge NY festivities. Rents are still fairly cheap and infrastructure is good and close by. Food is cheap, if not as cheap as woop woop but one can only eat so much.

Yes some expats like easy access to sex, while those with little testosterone may not need those services.

But the vast majority of people who actually live there and not on monger holiday are former mongers or reformed mongers.

I've no objection to the Sin City concept  but the sheer dreariness and vulgarity is hard to stomach.

Not hard to find a serious relationship or date different women in Thailand.

Probably not anything to do with testosterone either.

You just have to pay the bill(s).

In my experience there is generally little or no sex in LTRs, but I accept yours may be different.

Sure, there are lots of guys happy to pay all in exchange for a bit of cooking and cleaning but it's not for everyone, hance Pattaya!

No, Phuket is much worse.

And yes.... before someone proclaims Pattaya is not real Thailand, Pattaya is actually real Thailand. Prostitution, corruption, drunkards, pedos and Navy Seals.

Don't  forget the SAS. It's where former members go to die. More there than Hereford.

There is a secret underground tunnel linking the 2 places so that arms can be got to them quickly in case they are needed again.

Try picking up one of their Zimmermans. Very heavy as both front legs are rifled and loaded with 3 rounds each. The handles are packed with explosives and can be detached to use as grenades.

As for all the ladyboys,  don't  be fooled. Mostly SAS on secret missions.

I detest everything about it, including most of the clueless foreign lumps I have seen there in my thankfully short visits over the years. Mostly drunks, sex tourists and thick tattooed up specimens swaggering about. The whole place is a national embarrassment, and in parts nothing more than an open air brothel.

you should know that sex is available all over Thailand ,would I still be here today ,if I had

made a beeline to Pattaya straight off the plane ,maybe not ,might have blown the lot .

like many others do every year.

Another who does not realise those lovely girls you have zero in common with, at best tolerate you and at worst hate you. They are actresses paid to act- it's called prostitution.

Let's not get carried away now.

No place is paradise.

I wouldn't love everything about any place, but Pattaya for me at this point in my life for my budget is:

THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDZ

(Note the Z).
