A shocking street fight in Phuket has once again put a spotlight on law enforcement in Thailand. A viral video captured foreigners attacking a Thai man outside a restaurant in Patong, stirring outrage on social media.

The clip shows the Thai man hiding under a table while three to four foreign men surround and assault him. Another local attempted to intervene, but the violence continued as the victim tried to reason with his attackers. An outpouring of criticism about the nation's legal system and the perceived impunity of foreigners in Thailand has resulted from the footage.

Phuket Times, a Facebook page, shared the dramatic video, sparking furious reactions. Many netizens expressed dissatisfaction with the response of local authorities and accused them of failing to protect citizens from such incidents. ByBystanders in the video were also criticised for not intervening to help.

Comments from frustrated viewers suggested widespread discontent. One user noted, “Thai laws are too weak,” while another questioned, “Why don’t Thai people help each other?” Highlighting the frustration felt by many, another commented, “Thai laws only apply to Thai people.”

Despite the uproar, Patong Police Station has yet to release a statement, and few updates have surfaced regarding the incident. This silence has only added to the community's frustration, with many calling for immediate action and transparency.

This is not an isolated incident. Just days ago, on August 12, a similar scene unfolded when foreigners attacked two Thai men, one a motorcycle rental shop owner, over a compensation dispute.

The violence erupted after a foreigner allegedly crashed a rental bike and rejected the owner's demand for 50,000 baht, offering only 10,000 baht instead. Although a district chief assured justice, further details remain undisclosed.

These incidents are raising questions about how conflicts involving foreigners are handled in Thailand and putting pressure on authorities to address concerns effectively. The repeated lack of resolution is testing the faith of locals in their legal protection and the capacity of officials to enforce law and order fairly.

It is because the modern way is to film any disturbance first, by which time everything is all over, it's all about gaining likes to which ever platform they are on

Well, it’s usually multiple Thai Attacking a foreigner, sometimes drunk over - usually padded  bar bill,  Or claims of rented Scooter damage that didn’t really exist. Violently hurting him with no remorse.
I guess this time it was reversed  But I’m sure there was a reason which isn’t Being highlighted or listed,  and I’m sure there’s a large story behind it that isn’t being told

looking at logically foreigners do not gang up to pick on someone for no reason out of the blue. There’s more to the story than it’s being told.

Looks like farangs miffed with getting ripped off could be the root cause here is my guess🤔

The first I understand completely. The second is incomprehensible to me.

We need more videos of 10 Thais attacking one farang.  Then we can listen to these guys complain some more.  Hope the next video has 20 Thais attacking one guy.

IMHO I find it to be quite the opposite.

Did they all agree to wear matching colours before heading out 🙄

Yet i see time and again 10 Thais beating one tourist. Chasing hitting kicking and brawling.

They are cowards.

Honestly its sickening to watch thai men hitting females, like beating the hell out of them. Also beating up foreigners, kicking kids, its endless.

These hot spots need to have  two police present every 50 meters every night. Hire more police if need be.

This is nuts to see violence every day here.

More police presence means more shakedowns.

Welcome to Thailand.

See, as usual there are a lot of posters that are talking about Thais and they are 10 to 1, and more or less trying to put the blame on Thais or this Thai guy. Do feel good with yourselves? You should feel ashamed! The story here is about 4 foreigners attacking 1 Thai guy, at least as it looks on the image. It also looks like it´s Mamood, Mohammad, Muhammed and Islam that are frustrated again. Better to kick out the pack, as they mostly just think they are superior and can do what they want in any country they come to.

Certainly not Western farangs, dressed in black, baseball caps & even a medallion round the neck of one guy, could be Eastern European are even Arabs. They did look a bit nasty.

Men in black.....it's aliens.

The black outfits and the big chain around the neck and sandals and probably tattoos tels me they are are troublemakers looking for trouble.

How do we know they are foreign? Did anyone check their IDs?

No context to the build up, but 4 on 1 is bs, whatever the reason.

Normally, yes but these days no one it seems needs an excuse

The photo looks like a bunch of like dressed (black T wearing) blokes from India. Regardless. Truth is, no one inclined to commit even a minor crime is put off by the specter of Thai police. Add to that the generally (seemingly) lazy demeanor of Thai police, and you have crime unchecked. People just don't respect or fear the law in Thailand. You are just as likely to see a Thai policeman assaulted as you whould see anyone else. Police simply need to toughen up and prove they can thump crime if they really want to be taken seriously.

Sad to say Thais are being treated as second class citizens...All because of corruptions from top to bottom...

Strange....normally we would see several brave Thai men attacking one foregner....🙄 Where were they this time around? Maybe 4 foreigners was too much for the brave ones?? 😆

Phuket is going like Pattaya for trouble in bars fighting and somon

Before years back Phuket was the place to go tourist wise

Since the influx of Russians and others it is spiralling to a place no one wants to go

Plus the Authorities Ie Police immigration officers not doing their jobs in ensuring Tourists safety

Due to the article being void of details, all I see is 4 thugs dressed in black looking for trouble. If this is the case, arrest and deport these punks long time. This is not a good look for Phuket tourism.

Firstly the quality of Thai reporting of these incidents is usually incomplete or biased one way or the other.

The laws in Thailand are in place but often not enforced for various reasons, often because compensation has been agreed and both parties walk away!

Unfortunately Thai's have this tendency to "gouge" whenever & where ever they get the chance and many take exception to this which is most likely the case here!

Right. These guys are called "racailles" in my country. They are French -  arabics, thugs and drug dealers  who should never be let in this country. But it just seems impossible toi control. These guys are nasty.
