The only vaccine I would have an interest in, would be the Modern, Phizer, or another with an efficacy rate of at least 90%. The Sinovac has been shown to be of very low quality, and the results have been poor. Why bother with a junk vaccine?

 

Will the higher quality vaccines be available here? And at what cost?

Not one of the Chinese vaccines has undergone third-stage peer review study. It's not sinophobia.

I echo the sentiments of other contributors, there is NO WAY that I will allow ANY vaccine from the CCP ( Chinese Communists Party) to be injected into my body. Studies from their own people show no better than 50% effectiveness. Besides, the vaccine supplied by them to other countries is likely to be full of Bat Dodo. 

My home  was infested with Chinese Drywall, luckily the developed remediated it at no cost.  I work with Chinese from mainland China daily and can tell you from years of experience, you can not trust them of believe a single word they say.  

You have to enter every negotiation with the realization that they are going to do their absolute best to screw you.

So how about an expat who works in the service sector and is likely to (eventually) come into contact with foreign tourists while currently already frequently coming into contact with local tourists?

But perhaps not. The only classifier here apparently is "expat". I also note that expats and migrant workers are grouped at the very bottom, i.e. they are the last ones to receive the vaccine. But that is not very surprising. It only goes to show once again where the government believes we belong.

Not wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist, COVID is very real, is very contagious, but it is not a death wish, the % of those recovering without any issues or even realising that they had it are very very high, the latest information from research states that most times people don't even have a fever, yet everywhere you go, you are tested for your temperature, it is now know that the symptoms are a soar throat, muscle pains, usually the back area, loss of taste and smell and fatigue.

 

The vaccine doesn't even protect others if you have been vaccinated, go figure.

 

It will allegedly give you up to 95% efficacy and yet you will still be asymptomatic, W-T-F, ok, it will protect you up to 95% depending on the "experimental vaccine" you get, but no information on how it will affect those with underlying conditions, maybe down the track with more information we will know, so I say, let everyone else get it to build up herd immunity and maybe, just maybe I will just get through it, in the meantime I will still to get my annual flu jab, and Pneumonia booster this year.

 

If the governments make it mandatory for visa renewals and or entry back to my homeland, and airlines not allowing you on board without a vaccine stamp, then I will revisit my options which would slowly be fading, but not without challenges of course, force is not something I take to easily.

 

Here's to more years on this planet without the "experimental vaccine" or bureaucratic idiots making stupid decisions that effect the odd black sheep. 

Assuming you are in Thailand, you have the luxury of having little chance of being infected so a lot of what you say is fine.

I  am in the UK and almost everything you say has a totally different meaning when applied here. The figures even without those who died of unrelated causes are still very high.

Our second wave with the new variants are far worse than what Thailand is used to. I know people who have had it and even those who didn't end up on a ventilator say it is very scary how bad they became. Most factories I visit have had bad cases and some with workers who died. These are not people with underlying problems they are normal workers. Many places test you before letting you in and not just a temp checks. Lateral flow tests are becoming normal. The local hospital mortuary is busier than ever. Bodies were coming and going non stop. Still going at half 6 when I left. Normally they finish at 4. Extra storage has been brought in as well. So here vaccine is by far the smaller risk. Most people over 70 have been vaccinated without major problems. So vaccines seem to be safe.

The UK variant looks likely to have come from someone who was infected for an extended time. So anyone not vaccinated is risking becoming the source of the next variant.

You say you have done research yet you cannot understand how a vaccinated person can pass on covid. The way I understand it is that you can get infected but your body can fight off the infection (assymptomatically) and while this is happening you can pass it on. You seem to be confusing this with passing covid on just from being vaccinated. 

Personally I have no problem with people refusing to be vaccinated without a valid reason but they should be prepared to pay for every consequence should they become ill with covid. Hospital staff are risking their lives to treat people yet you won't even take a vaccine. 

Maybe you need to find some better sources for your research as being an anti vaxer is not making you look very clever. But if your talking about the Chinese vaccine then I agree and would only take that as a last resort.

I have never taken fish oil since my Mum forced it on me 70 years ago, and I also never catch colds or flu.

Judging from the very recent experience of four of my friends in England, I'd really prefer to get vaccinated with the Pfizer version.  They had the Oxford/AZ shot and all felt at least mildly ill for two or three days: a small price to pay for the protection it appears to offer, but I'd sooner skip that part if possible.

 

The question of whether to get vaccinated at all simply shouldn't be on the table without a very sound medical reason.

I don't listen to the weasel words, reversals, insinuations and implications that have been rolling out for the last few months regarding vaccine availability and priorities. 

 

Until they actually have some vaccine in hand its just a fool's game. 

 

I'm prepared to wait it out and then pay for what's available that I can trust. 

 

My extension of stay is due end of May. My only wish is that immigration does not link vaccinations and renewals until after that point. It seems inevitable that they will eventually require it.

Well, if I might waffle a bit? I would prefer to get Pfizer or Astra-Zeneca. Somehow I do not think it will come to being deported. Too many political issues.
