Red Bull boss case set to be freshly considered "to restore confidence in public prosecutors"

The new chairman of a committee that oversees  public prosecutors has promised a fresh look at the case of Red Bull scion Vorayuth Yoovidhya.

The mega-wealthy fugitive from justice known as "Boss"  for whom there is an Interpol Red Notice is suspected of killing a policeman in the Thong Lo area of Bangkok in September 2012. He was allegedly speeding and drunk.

The sergeant was hit by Boss's Ferrari and dragged along the road.

Boss has not been seen in Thailand since 2017 and his whereabouts are unknown though he has been seen in London and at Formula One events around the world.

The new committee chief is Phachorn Yutthithamdamrong and he promised a "new broom" for the Boss case and other cases when the committee meets under his chairmanship for the first time next Wednesday, June 9th.

This will involve looking again at the role of former deputy chief prosecutor Naret Naksuk who famously dropped charges against boss before Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha intervened to have them reinstated amid a huge public backlash.

Naew Na noted in their report that there was still grave public concern over the case and the subsequent slow investigation into Naret.

Pachorn promised a new committee, the latest in a long line of panels that so far have only delayed and delayed the high profile case.

He also promised a fresh look at the evidence against Boss.

Thaivisa notes that despite the rhetoric coming from the prosecutors' office few who have followed the case for years will be holding their breath.

Nine years after the crime and years after he was charged Boss is yet to face justice with a jaded public constantly repeating the same mantra when it comes to Thai justice:

"It's one rule for the rich and one for everyone else".

Stop it please, my constitution cannot cope with these bloody ridiculous statements anymore. How many times have we heard that BS? They have no intentions what so ever in bringing that scrot

  • Other then simply getting rid of the top echelons of Thai society by their thousands, I can not think of anything that would give the public confidence in the RTP/prosecution/justice systems

  • Far too much money in brown envelopes has been passed around for anything to happen to this punk. In Thailand it's all about the money.

Is financial reward for information leading to capture a thing  here?

The only confidence the public has is the confidence cannot be restored was there never was any. Classic case is the Kho Tao boys incarcerated or in other courts used to take out political foes. But real confidence in the system being honest having integrity? Not by a mile.

The little fugitive turd doesn't work for a living, right? Here's an idea: charge family with "aiding and abetting a fugitive". Snowballs chance in heck of that happening, but he is living off family money...

Hilarious

Meet the new guy. Same as the old guy.

I hope I'm still around when he returns to Thailand on 3 September 2027 - should be quite a show.

If the current PM is still in charge "Boss" may be given a place in government, along with the other dodgy characters.

Red Bull ownership, 51% Chalerm Yoovidhya and 49% Dietrich Mateschitz, throw them both in the pokey for aiding and abetting a fugitive !!

This has been announced twice already. This is the third time.

I think there are far larger issues that the judiciary needs to rectify. Due process, speedy trial, individuals allowed to levy state charges against which are almost always political in nature.

Disingenuous at best.

None of this was too difficult....Show trial with outcome of 8 years manslaughter + restitution to family. Not spent a day in jail but over the time of trial say 2.5 years time served. 5.5 years to be served in minimum security prison (home). After two years reduce the remaining time for good behavior (1.5). Given freedom with 1.5 years community service (handing out Red Bull drinks at car shows). Problem solved.

Well it is the opposite here. It is financial reward leading to the disappearance of the guilty.

Yes and catch them both in Azerbaijan this weekend no doubt. Oh yes remove their illegal front wings whilst they are at it.

This red notice how red is it just a bit pinkish otherwise the Met would have banged up year's ago ????

Just the latest trial balloon to see how far they can go in exonerating the little <deleted>. Anyone who thinks this will change even the slightest thing in this case hasn't understood anything about Thailand. If it appears there is enough indifference they'll do something alright - drop the charges due to lack of evidence.

Give it up already, will you guys? Bring that git back - in custody - then talk. Anything else you lot say before that is just going to underline what a right bunch of clots you all really are. 'Public confidence'? Yes, they are confident alright. Very confident you all are highly capable of doing jack-all.

Maybe trying to divert interest from the Japanese car issue and show the judiciary in a good light

  • Popular Post

There is absolutely nothing that can be done to restore confidence in the judiciary, or the prosecutors. Nothing. Their reputations are tarnished beyond repair. It is as much the fault of Prayuth and company, as it is a weak and highly compromised judiciary.
