Hundreds of Thai medical workers infected despite Sinovac vaccinations

Featured Replies

I wonder just what percentage of the Chinese population has been vaccinated?  I wonder if they are able

to get the AZ vaccine, or even Moderna and Pfizer, if they are rich Chinese. It seems that the countries that have used

the Sinovac were still getting infected with COVID.  I hope that the Thai government really does get lots of

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, and even the J & J vaccine for its population.  The Delta and Lambda variants seem

to be deadly.  And there were some people who thought the pandemic was close to being over.  Hah!  Think again.

  • Why is this so surprising & automatically attributed to Sinovac?  Has it not always been known that the vaccine...any vaccine...is not a bullet proof vest?  That you may still contract Covid but "

So far no vaccine has been strong enough to create herd immunity throughout any country.

That is untrue, the data is very clear in the United States.  Just look at the stats in the USA (Pfizer, Moderna), Singapore (Pfizer) & UK (AZ)  VS.  Delta and other variants

The American vaccines are clearly the best

The American vaccines? The Pfizer/BioNtec vaccine is codeveloped by German company BioNtec, which was co-founded by two Turkish immigrants. Fosun Pharma, Shanghai, is also involved. The essential research into mRNA vaccines was done by Katalin Karikó, a Hungarian biochemist.

I would be quite happy if the jabs I haven't had yet were diverted to the medical staff.

My concern is that it might be diverted to another useless deadhead politician.

Well from what I hear they are planning some junket off to the USA to get booster jabbed.....a classic case of 'I am alright jack'.

Instead of quoting Covid numbers from last year when it was relatively benign here, they should be quoting from the beginning of this year when it all started coming apart. Those numbers are not great by any measure. When is the government going to get off their assets and start purchasing large numbers of the good vaccines…….I guess no time soon.
A Thai family a couple of businesses away from ours all contracted the virus. Are they in the government hospital here in Pattaya? No. Why? There are no beds available.

Thai people are dying because the government twiddles their thumbs and raises their level of incompetence daily. Disgusting.

Same is true for my daughter-in-law who is a nurse in Khon Kaen. The Pfizer vaccine hasn't been received yet.

Medical workers contact COVID patients so often that no vaccine can prevent infection in this case. But any vaccine will prevent hospitalization and death.

Your first assertion is dubious. Your second takes no account of the fact that some do it better than others.

Wrong, any of the US made vacccines will prevent hospitalization or death but the Sinovac will not against the Delta strain.

6 fully vaccinated people caught the Delta variant after an outdoor wedding, but the ones with Pfizer and Moderna shots didn't get very sick  (The ones that had Sinovac = 1 died other critical)

Article says they got an Indian vaccine, not Sinovac. "two had gotten an Indian-made vaccine called Covaxin."

"You said

Note. China is the only country to produce large quantity of vaccines because they can mobilize resources. "

I don't think so---The USA   and Pfizer  can make billions of vaccine shots just like China and we even make Astrazeneca  at one of our factories for the Brits as they didn't have the capacity to make as much as we can produce. We did this even though AZ is not approved for use in US and we don't use it. We even have more labs available to make vacccines but have not used them yet as  vacccinations are slowing down in US and we have enough for anyone who wants a shot.

It's not about nationalism pride; it's about the fact.

Not even the US has been able to get enough people vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. BBC reported today that in Europe, e.g. France, medical personnel will be required to be vaccinated or not get paid. It seems that bars, etc, in some European countries may require some proof that people are not infected.

Fosun made a $50mn deal with BioNTech in March 2020. Not sure whether there was any technology transfer. However, there are other mRNA projects in China:

Just Scare mongering it does't matter what vaccine you get its only to stop you ending up in Hospital. You can still pass it on if your fully vaxed stop worrying.

Deceased Samut Sakhon doctor was not vaccinated against Covid-19

Published : July 13, 2021

The Samut Sakhon public health office clarified on Monday that the late Dr Phicheat Sahakij, who worked at Suang Luang Hospital in Krathum Baen district and died from Covid-19 on July 10, had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“Phicheat or Dr Neung was never vaccinated as he has chronic diseases: allergy and asthma,” said Dr Naresrit Khatthasima, chief of the Samut Sakhon public health office. “He developed severe symptoms after infection, coupled with his health problems and exhaustion from working long hours at the hospital. These likely caused the Covid-19 symptoms to develop into pneumonia and respiratory failure.”

On Sunday, the Department of Disease Control reported that 880 medics had contracted Covid-19 since the latest wave began in April and seven have died; five were unvaccinated, one had received a dose of Sinovac and another had received two doses of Sinovac. It also said that of those infected, 19.7 per cent, or 173 people, had not been vaccinated.

Well... that means:

only 0.09 % had a positive PCR-Test

Since when are vaccines

-especially against viruses-

giving you a 100% protection ???

... also Pfizer, Moderna, J&J aren’t claiming that !

Life is dangerous and normally, it ends with death ????

Funnily, if driving with a car, or even on a motorbike without helmet, they never seems to think about possible dangers ...

But their lucky amulet protects them in their cars and on their bikes

Looks like the vaccines work...so far.

707 vaccinated - 2 deaths (one vaccinated with only 1 shot)

173 not vaccinated - 5 deaths.

Would be good if the age is also mentioned.

Any medical student know that being vaccinated doesn't mean you will never be infected again. That's not how things work.

Any person with a grain of intelligence would know that. Stating the obvious isn’t exactly an argument winner.

Most people like you don't even know the obvious from all the comments that I've read. That's why I have to state the 'obvious'.

Well, I'm pretty sure you're right about China producing more vaccines. That said, a link to an articled dated Mar 17 is no way to go about making your point.
