AstraZeneca will only be able to deliver 5-6 million doses per month but the plan to inoculate at least 10 million people per month will continue with the help of other vaccines, the government said on Tuesday.

In June, the government said the company will deliver 10 million doses per month until they reach 61 million doses by the end of the year.

However, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) said last week that the timeline for the delivery was not specified in the contract and AstraZeneca will not be able to deliver the amount until May 2022.

In six to nine months Thailand will be where Europe and North America are now...cautiously re-opening the country.

That's how it goes for half-vassed planning.  Give  'em one shot and we'll worry about the rest later.

Fair estimate IF they finally get their act together and world wide vax production increases substantially, as it appears to be doing.  But there's always the possibility of yet another variant that will leave them in the dust.  They do not understand urgency.

"Government plans to inoculate 10 million per month despite AstraZeneca shortfall..."

So prey tell please, how do you inoculate 10 million people if you don't have  enough of the stuff? dilute it with other agent?...

Every 40 days they lose 50% of its efficacy, needing at minimum another booster jab soon after.

Not accurate.  Every 40 days, they lose 50% of the antibodies, not efficacy.  It may still be effective after a year or more with a tiny percentage of the original antibody level.  I don't claim to know...  We'll have to wait a year since I doubt it's ethical to test people with a 0.2% dose- representing a year at a half life of 40 days.

Edit:  Most of us who were vaccinated during childhood are carrying miniscule antibodies for things like measles.  But we're still protected, even at that low level.

THailand....... where the magic happens.

Unknown when and which vaccines will come, they still keep the people in Thailand quiet by making statements like this..

Why would they get their act together now or ever when the same imbeciles who burnt the country down are still running the show?

"I don't claim to know"

For basic herd members, while they would like another shot in two months time, to keep antibody level up, that won't happen in 2021. They will be scrambling to just make up the 4 to 5 million dose shortfall per month to keep mass vaccination rolling along, If that is even possible. Any follow up jabs will be short listed for groups needed for essential work, vital to the nation; generals, politicians, police, Thonglor bar & nightclub workers, etc.

Did they all fail math? To fully vaccinate 10 million people a month they need 20 million doses. One jab of any vaccine will not stop the Delta strain

Oh for crying out loud -

You don't have the vaccines to do that, you have utterly screwed up the procurement by your insistence on every move being subservient to your venal greed, you don't have the money to buy them now anyway because what you haven't <deleted> up the wall on pointless weapon systems and assorted vanity projects, you have parcelled out to your mates in funding for a variety of schemes to keep their various businesses afloat.

Just give the <deleted> a rest will you! Nobody believes a word of it anymore.

Where's the "and we estimate this to generate 800 billion trillion baht for the economy" that usually follows their (tired) statements with magic figures?

To implement that plan is another story

The vaccination rate is now compounding other critical issues (i) The economy (ii) Debt/Bankruptcy (iii) Foreign Investment and consumer confidence which is at its lowest since 1998. This is the domino effect of a poorly managed critical path that now raised political risk.

That report is dated Feb 2. At the time only one major real world study had been done for Coronavac. Since then, all other major real world studies have given Coronavac higher effectiveness ratings.

And effectiveness in this has to do with the development of any symptoms. In all studies Coronavac showed much higher effectiveness at mitigating serious symptoms and reducing deaths.

No transparent major studies have been concluded yet on how Coronavac performs against the Delta variant.

I hope I have obtained 2 quality jabs by then and nothing worse has happened to me!

That's why I would prefer the J&J vaccine. One jab and your done! Also if they are getting 20 million Pfizer vaccines will the Thais have to pay for them or just us?

Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine may not be highly effective against Delta variant: study

You just can't win!

I had planned on getting vaxed with that in my home country in order to be able to return to Thailand more quickly. A previous study had shown it was very effective. This current one hasn't been peer reviewed yet. Also, it was based on antibody levels in the blood. Not based on actual clinical trials. So who knows?

Why not 100 million? 200 million? Seriously? No one believes these announcements anymore. Or maybe another circus at Bang Sue that a hundred foreigners who apply within a 5 minute window rush to get vaccinated the following morning. This is like a face saving game show.

PLAN !!! This government couldn’t plan a PI$$ UP in the local brewery

Post removed.

Posts denigrating and calling Chinese vaccines useless and referring to it with derogatory names have been removed.

Whilst it may be ineffective in certain cases (ie Delta strain) it is by no means useless.

At the end of the day this is a Thai government sponsored vaccine and the forum and or yourself can get in trouble for comments like this so stop it.
