Twelve people arrested at Pattaya underground bar for allegedly drinking alcohol and violating Covid-19 measurements

Featured Replies

I was speaking to an English farrang the other day who goes to these places - and there are many.  He was saying that he just can't stay in his condo all the time and what else is there to do?  Me, I like my condo, I spent a little more for a place I was happy in and, with food deliveries, UK TV, internet, and a Kindle, I'm happy enough.

I do miss the bars and the "interaction" of course, but I want to be alive and healthy enough to go to them when they eventually re-open.  Whether I'll still be young enough is another question.  ????

I take it that is sarcasm?   If you add this 12 to the 66 arrested yesterday in the Naklua club, so 78 individuals, how many do each of them see and meet with outside those  bars, 5, 10, 20, others. i

Entering "Tesco/7-11" people wash their hands and wear masks at all times.

A year ago up to May 1st maybe so but not now.

Re 7 Eleven's NOT ANY MORE "at all times" except maybe masks....................heat checks often ignored, signing in & out rarely done, gel sometimes.

Re Lotus.............................heat checks often ignored, gel sometimes, signing in only done if entrance manned & out rarely done.

Big hardware stores & the main entrance to malls seem to be in compliance but not most of the shops within the malls.

Prohibition breeds speakeasies. Pattaya re-birth on the way.

(A speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, is an illicit establishment that sells alcoholic beverages)

That is a "biker" bar as well (HA). Wonder if someone from a rival club may have tipped the cops off for a laugh.

it could have been worse

Why are  arrested?

There were only 11 people drinking alone so everyone was in good standing.

Dang! I'm disappointed no pictures of Thai hotties. Are they back on the farm?

I truly believe some of these people have mental problems.

They have to be in a group or party situation or else they think they have no life or are missing something.

So you think enjoying social interaction equals a mental problem?

Hmm...it never ceases to amaze me how many people think it's okay to not follow the set 'rules'.

If you choose to break the rules - your choice - but the problem is we all get put into the same category...foreigners.

The powers that be are way too soft.  Regardless of how long someone has been here, and regardless of how much money or property they may have - if they break the rules, they need to be punnished.  The punnishment is easy - send them back to their country (with no option to return) where they can break all the rules they want and it will not affect those of us here to do follow the rules.

With people saying that friends and aquaintances have died, or are dying due to Covid - you would think the message would sink in.

A few weeks is dependent on people actually following the guidelines.

How often do some people need to ignore the guidelines before they realise this means the restrictions will never end?

And socialism would work if only people did it right...

Has anyone notified covid to only strike after 15 minutes?

The last time I read, Delta variant has cut that 15 mins to 15 Seconds.....And I tend to believe that considering the recent spike in cases where I'm at with more than 90% of all cases belong to Delta.

(it's amazing how selective people are when they're talking about lockdown restrictions being enforced....)

well I guess the same thing is happening when they go to a local 7/11, and come into contact with possible carriers

the point is, it doesn't really matter where, it will spread one way or another, maybe not drinking between friends, but going to TESCO or 7/11 or wherever you go where people are stuck together, even at the waiting line to get tested

Normally people in TESCP or 7/11 are not sucking on a can so can keep their mask on, but I guess logic gets lost on stupidity.

Now the prohibition has arrives so have 'speak-easies.'

Would they be doing the same thing in their own countries?

No.

Show some respect for the place you chose to live in and if you don't like the rules, **** ***.

Stamp their passports, no further visa to be issued and deport them all.

I'm sorry but these people are phenomenally selfish.

We all know that this regime don't need much of a excuse to implement a total, nationwide alcohol ban.

And eventually that is what will happen if these idiots, both Thai and Farang continue to flout the current Covid restrictions.

Yes, apart from virus spread problem, I still want to be able to have a beer at home.

These are what will result in prohibition.

You are right. Dura lex sed lex. Can't those people live without imbibing? Appalling!

I know of a place like this in Bangkok, though I've never entered it. It draws a regular crowd, according to those who work there. Now 2 of those regulars are fighting for their lives with Covid, at least one in Bumrungrad on a ventilator (the other, I don't know the hospital he's in)..

Hey, but they can take solace, should they lose their battle, that they exercised their 'civil rights and didn't let any Thai authorities tell them how [these foreigners] should live in someone else' country. No sirree!.

And improved the gene pool

And so you should. I really hope they don't ban alcohol completely. It would not hit me at all but it would just be over the top.

" Fat Boys "  a gay biker club in Pattaya?  What are they grilling?????

As it is a "Hells Angels" bar (or run by an HA support club) I'd say they were probably grilling (slowly) anyone that called them "gay".  :w00t:

I was speculating on it being a 'biker' bar, that to me means 'outlaws' from OZ. ie. old farts with goatees who never grew up.

The Outlaws are a different group but they, like the HA and others, do have chapters in Australia.

They are (most likely) outlaw bikers so yes, they probably would be doing the same thing in their own countries. Probably without having to worry about being busted by the cops as well.

Perhaps some of that same "passion for the law"  can be devoted to arresting, convicting and imprisoning some of Prayuth's men on the border, who are taking a bit of tea money, to let infected Burmese enter the nation? How about arresting a human trafficker, or a human sex slave trader once in a while? What about the owners of the factories, that allow the operation of a place with 3,000 infected workers? Isn't that somehow more important than busting a few foreigners having a beer?

yeah but this fits their narrative quite well of nasty foreigners (non Chinese) bringing in the virus...

That's how it spreads and why the rest of us are banged up at home waiting for it to ease.

Well to your point then….spreading covid means someone has to have it…..non are tested for covid are they? Arrests are made under that assumption.  Good to see BIB are repurposed from fleecing farangs on motorbikes.
