Your Covid 19 papers, please,  How do you feel about Thailand and the rest of the worlds businesses asking for proof that you have received the covid 19 vacine and have been recently tested negitive?

Further madness. None of the mega stores that have stayed open all this time have had to do this. Now small business is looking to open government wants to put road blocks in the way.

You still get covid if your vaccinated by the way, it is just hoped that symptoms are less severe, so literally what is the point of only allowing vaccinated people in restaraunts ?

WRONG... 

You don’t ‘still get covid by the way’ !!!  when vaccinated you have a far lesser chance of getting covid, and if you do, you have a far better probability of significantly reduced symptoms. 

No hoping about it - the results are fact.

Because fully vaccinated people have a far less chance of being asymptomatic carriers, there is far less chance of further spread of the virus.

Is it really any different from my Sons school asking for proof of vaccination (i.e. measles etc) ?

 

Proof of ‘yellow fever’ vaccination has been a thing when travelling to certain countries for years now. 

 

 

It seems there are a lot of vocal people crying for their rights when completely forgetting the rights of those who may suffer as a result of continued spread of Covid-19.

Many of those making the most noise complaining about this are the same people who elsewhere have argued for national ID cards and compulsory ID for voting.

 

Pick your politics and argue accordingly.

 

My own thoughts are, anything that ‘nudges’ people to get the vaccine is a step in the right direction.

 

It’s getting way past the time to recognize anti-vaxers and those refusing to wear masks for what they are ‘Free-loaders’ wanting an end to the pandemic but not willing to do their part to end it.

If what you say is true then why are they calling vaccinated in the U.S.A "Super Spreaders"??? Why is it that Israel the most vaccinated country in the world is currently having a massive outbreak and the majority of people hospitalized/dying are those vaccinated?? So many things we don't know about covid still, lot more research and statistics need to be done/gathered still!

Why is it you can have had 20 other vaccine shots but if you refuse covid vaccine you are now an anti-vaxxer?

Why not just put a chip in us that says we are vaccinated.

 

That was sarcasm people, whatever it takes to make it safer for all to be able to get back to some kind of normality.

 

Personally, I am all for it, the strangest thing is people just don't understand, this is the new world, it is what it is, Covid is real and we have to take steps to mitigate it's effect on us.

 

I for one wouldn't want to be sitting in a plane with unvaccinated people or in a restaurant, while shopping etc etc, vaccinations and QR Codes/Certificates of people proving they have been vaccinated is the way to go and if that is what it takes to move forward, then I am all for it.

 

For the unvaccinated, you have your choice, I respect that, but do keep away from me.

Depends entirely on how successful (90% coverage?) the vax program is, and how much (a lot?) that reduces infections & hospitalizations.

 

But mostly, internationally, evidence of full vax will be demanded for most big things - plane travel being the obvious one. The anti-vaxers can almost certainly say goodbye to their international freedoms. And fake certificates will quickly get stomped on as the technology moves forward everywhere.

Complete agree with the "too early" sentiment from other posters. While I am vaccinated (out of country), my wife (46 and healthy) and my daughter (underage) have no chance to get vaccinated, so as a family, we could not go to any restaurant together to eat. But since the Elite who make these idiotic decisions don't suffer from access to vaccination, they don't care about the normal Thai families who also would like to go back to restaurants.

 

And... if they insist on vaccination.. why then the need to cut the capacity? If you insist on social distancing, then you don't have to insist on vaccination, if you insist on vaccination, you don't have to insist on distancing. Just does not make sense at all, but what does from this government?

 

Finally... where can I get one of those green papers about vaccination? I already imagine the horror trying to explain my electronic vaccination certificate from Switzerland to some poor BIB checking in restaurants...

If the card displayed does not contain information that can be used for identity theft or put me at personal risk, then who cares.

 

If it contains passport id, signature, address, phone, etc., then I would be concerned everyone now has a copy of that.

It's gross and bizarre how many expect every aspect of life to be made risk-free for them.  Life is not risk free. Never has been and never will be.

 

Vast majority (97%) of population Earth is not adversely affected by the actual disease...but rather suffering from all these egregious overreactions, restrictions, lockdowns, shutdowns and businesses out of business. Job loss and loss of livelihood, economic and financial burdens. Hunger and loss of shelter. Loss of social interaction/community and psychological distress.

Vaccination and social distancing are ‘layers of protection’ that reduce risk, they do not remove all risk.

 

Other examples in your life are seatbelts in cars; wearing a seat belt does not remove all the risk, so it’s a good idea for the driver not to play games on their mobile phone while driving, even if seat belts are being worn.

That could easily be a next step in a few years. Removes need to carry papers / app on phone etc; allows for tracking of your movements "to keep you and others safe". As you say, "whatever it takes" so where do you draw the line? Or perhaps we just all trust governments to get it right?

This is indeed the new world. The question really is to what extent citizens are content to allow their governments to rule by diktat and fear. Covid is real and we have to take steps to mitigate - correct: but the effects on the vast majority of people are not serious. That of course could change, but equally it may not, and Covid may become less of a threat, not more, as the years pass. While we wait to find out I'd rather have as few restrictions as possible and accept the (likely minimal) personal risk that may ensue.

 

At issue here is the extent to which the majority should be required to adapt their behaviour for the benefit of the minority. In an authoritarian society citizens do what they are told. Previously, in liberal societies, citizens at least had the illusion that government served the people, not the other way round, and that personal freedoms were sacrosanct.

But if you've been vaccinated what's the problem? I trust you would also mitigate your personal risk further by wearing an N95/FFP2 or better mask at all times in such situations, because it sounds like you are very fearful?

There are many reasons why some people may be unvaccinated. Personal choice, concern about long-term issues arising from brand-new vaccines, pre-existing conditions that preclude vaccination, age (children). Again, if you have been vaccinated, why are you so afraid? 

 

Fear, to me, is one of the worst aspects of this whole sorry mess. It's sensible to be concerned - especially if over 50 or with certain chronic diseases - but concern shouldn't become fear. That's now so deeply entrenched that it's going to take a very long time for it to dissipate. Maybe for some people it never will.

I don't have an issue if they ask for proof of vaccine as long as I've been provided with proof.

As for a negative test they can forget it, that's only as good as the time it was taken, it proves virtually nothing.

This could be a two edged sword. If asked for my vaccine status at the establishment I am visiting, how do I know it is safe to enter? Will there be a clear sign at the entrance to confirm all staff are vaccinated?

Forget proof of vaccination certificates, follow what Singapore have done. My son, who lives in Singapore, was telling me the other night that it is mandatory to have an app that has your covid vaccination history. It MUST be scanned everywhere they go ( malls, theatres, restaurants etc ). No vaccination history, no entry. people still have the choice of whether to be vaccinated or not, BUT they do not get the privilege of being able to be out and about with those that have been vaccinated. I'm all for something similar being implemented here.

Is there really a difference in todays world versus yesteryears when you needed to show a yellow vaccination card to enter certain countries and show you had been vaccinated against diseases therein.  I have no issues carrying a vaccination card, they might as well make it a page in your passport.
