Life in Thailand possible without the Vaccine?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Hello,

I'm a retired American under the age of 50 and wondering if it would be possible to live long term in Thailand without the vaccine?

To be frank, I'll eat lead bullets before I take the vaccine.

Will I be able to get visa's and stay in Thailand without it?

I don't care if I can't work or go to restaurants.

I just want to be able to live and be left alone and have my visas be good.

Is it possible?

Firstly, there is less risk from the vaccine than eating lead bullets....

As for visa's, just keep reading Covid updates, as I am sure there will be various movements on it regarding them.

What an embarrassing op, not because you don't want to take vaccine, but simply because you are under the assumption that even if it's possible the rules can change overnight, especially in Thailand.

Just do a search on this forum on how many were crying when visa rules were changed overnight. How many were sobbing when insurance requirements  changed for retirees. How many are whining with new covid entry rules.

And here you are asking if you're gonna be left alone without taking vaccine? Personal opinion. Not a chance in hell.

Surely a troll post?

I believe there is a strong possibility that proof of a Covid vaccination will, at some point in the future become mandatory for Thailand all visas and extensions.

This is of course just supposition...

Avoiding the obvious ‘anti-vaxx’ discussion...

Thailand will make a lot of announcements that vaccines are require to go to the shops, restaurant, domestic travel.. but really, its just too hard to keep on top of for a nation while has such apathy towards an form of controls - As with nearly all announcements, they will be made, then forgotten about a few weeks later.

The only issue could be ‘International entry’ - it may that a vaccination is required to enter Thailand for the forceable future.

Millions in Thailand are not vaccinated or in a hospital bed.

I'm curious, did you post this to encourage or discourage someone from getting the vaccine?   If your goal is to encourage then I would suggest a different approach as sanctimoniousness only further entrenches peoples views.

Another little gem to copy and keep close to my heart.

Thank you so much for your kind wisdom.

It may well be the case you'll need proof of vaccination to get on the plane!

Are you willing to isolate yourself, ordering groceries online for dleivery only, staying inside your house and not infecting others, using agents for immigration matters, sounds like a plan...but my guess is you won't want to live like a hermit. Any time you interact with another human being you risk 1) being infected, or 2) infecting someone else and starting a cluster. try to think about someone other than yourself.

Why would Thailand want to even issue a visa to an unvaxed foreigner who wants to come and live in their country?  They don't need you and IMHO don't want you ...

It all depends on where you want to live. If you choose the densely populated (and popular) regions then there is clearly a risk albeit a small one of catching Covid. If you choose to live rurally, as I do, the risk is very small indeed.

So far, according to official figures, less than 2% of the population have contracted Covid. Of course it's quite likely that there have been many cases that have gone undetected, but even so, the infection rate is pretty low. And it has, so far failed to get a strong toehold in the rural areas. In fact, in the north east region (Issan) it is declining.

Also I note that you're under 50 and (I presume) in good health, so what's your worry anyway?

And on that final note, you're under 50 and you want to retire here. You are aware, I trust, that you cannot obtain a retirement extension here if you're under 50.

They're surely not going to let any unvaccinated people in without at least a two week quarantine any time soon.

Policy wise who knows....

I'm also an American, although it's not exactly en vogue at the moment....

I also had a natural inclination against a vaccine.....I also have an inclination against playing Russian roulette with my life.....

I'd thought about waiting it out, but what happens then? Protocols will be relaxed....Yahoo - 85% are now vaccinated = herd immunity takes over..... Progress....

That's all well and good; but how do I know when I'm walking around when I'm next to that virus loaded bullet? I don't, and can't = they might not even though they're carrying some form of the virus....Could be 1 person out of every 6 (like a revolver) -  or an entire group cluster....

= I don't know until it's too late & I'm dying....

I decided being vaccinated & having the chance of being sick versus bring dead was worth it....

-----------------------------------------

Side notes:

I have 2 daughters, one in a university and one in school....How do I know who they are around? Do I keep my uni daughter away? She shops around her area.....

I've had pneumonia twice which also enters strongly into the equation.....

I've gotten the first Pfizer jab (once it became FDA approved)....My wife will too, when Pfizer is available for her....

It might be possible, but tell me where you are going to live, and I will avoid you like the plaque, also pretty soon if you don't get vaxed your travel options will be several curtailed, as most western countries will require full vaccination before entry, like Canada which only allows fully vaccinated people, as probably near all the airlines will require everyone to be fully vaccinated before they can board.

I am pretty sure at some point you will have to show your vaccine-card, when doing 90 day reporting.

Since we are not yet at the stage where people have to wear armbands to signify their vaccine status, how do you plan to identify those that are vaxxed vs unvaxxed so you can avoid them like the plague?   Are you planning to carry out a health survey with everyone you encounter, such as shop workers, delivery drivers, social events etc?  Can you trust restaurants to enforce the rule if implemented and will you personally check on other diners to see if they have been vaxxed?  People who say they are going to avoid the unvaxxed like the plague are effectively saying that they do not trust the vaccine, yet are demanding others to take something they clearly do not trust themselves.

Its possible but you won't be able to do many things that makes life enjoyable.

There is no logical reason not to be vaccinated.

But I am not willing to have this poison injected into my body - especially when it doesn't help against the virus.

Explain why all over the Southern USA the numbers clearly show that over 95% of those catching this disease are unvaccinated.

If you wish to die of this disease and are so misled that you call this life-saving vaccine a poison - please do us all a favour and stay away
