Khon Kaen – A recently-arrested American man who allegedly raped a female massage therapist in Khon Kaen has refused to reenact the crime scene which was planned today, October 3rd, for what he said were personal safety reasons.

37-year old suspect Robert Andrew Gordon, who is reportedly originally from Colorado in the United States, was arrested yesterday at a condominium in Soi Na Na on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok after days of fleeing from his alleged crime against a 45-year-old masseuse and attempted sexual abuse against a young girl in a northeastern province.

The suspect has now been taken and been detained at the Mueng Khon Kaen Police Station before the police will make a formal detention request with the provincial court tomorrow, October 4th. The suspect’s girlfriend and lawyer have reportedly arrived from Amnat Charoen and are participating in the process with the foreign suspect. It is unknown at this point if he will be eligible for bail.

  • He is possibly guilty but shouldn't the guy still still have the benefit of"innocent until proven guilty"?

  • The saddest aspect of cases of this nature is that the offer of bail is available.  I'm still astounding as to how such a sicko like this could be eligible for bail.

  • You seem to forget that this is Thailand, and in Thailand a foreigner who commit a heinous crimes against a Thai person is first of all tried in the court of public opinion and as such, in this countr

Um... did he care about the safety of his alleged victims?

I've heard of that in the American justice system. I bet the defendant has, too. But he's not in America.

You seem to forget that this is Thailand, and in Thailand a foreigner who commit a heinous crimes against a Thai person is first of all tried in the court of public opinion and as such, in this country, he's already presumed guilty... as for his future?, not worth a cracker in my opinion...

What’s wrong with your statement is the same how Thais think…you need to add the word allegedly…

nit defending him at all but need to follow a process…you can’t let the case be tried in public…

in the usa currently, it is rare but the Florida camping couple case has played out way too publicly…leading to the public has already reached a guilty verdict for the missing boyfriend…

He seems to be giving "the finger"  in the photo

The sick mob mentality on this forum has already tried him. That's a sad reality.

Yeah...the BF who refused to talk to police and then disappeared after using the dead GF's credit cards....yeah how could we jump to such a crazy conclusion as guilty ?

Considering re-enactments are supposedly illegal, his refusal is abiding by the LAW, which the police have conveniently forgot . Their only evidence is he was seen leaving and a video the RETP like confessions, so much easier for them NOT having to do real Police work ..lol

I find it interesting that Thailand is the only country that forces its criminals to reenact the scenes.

Is he going to show his private parts in reenactment scenes? Just like how he showed 'it' to the poor 12 year-old girl?

Two unrelated victims accusing the same person of sex crime on the same day and you still think he is 'innocent'?

Would a 12 year-old child who didn't know him before that day lie?

There is also a truck driver witness on that day who saw the incident.

From what has been written he has admitted to to the crime. ?

So where do they find a BiB to act as the victim in a rape re-enactment?

Again none of us was there. It's her word against his, and I am not sticking up for either one. But just think for a moment, there are over a million pro's in Thailand and if they all yelled rape because they didn't the money they wanted all customers would be in a pickle.

No, we presume he's giving the giving the finger. (Even through if you zoom in on the photo he's clearly giving the finger.) Put until he's proven to have given the finger, he allegedly is giving the finger.

I would agree most of the time, but as you know each case is different?  This particularly one comes easy for the public to reach a guilty verdict being human I'm included myself to thinking?  When you don't cooperate and the family seemingly has help in his disappearance and run the result thinking is such. For myself, something happened sadly between these two couples might not have been intentional but in the end based on time when they find him it won't be pretty?

is he giving the finger ?   it looks like the cop has a missing finger  ?

i dont want to get into the court of public opinion but re enactments, the guys right. its a circus a clown show and has no part in any legal system.give him due process.

Seems like he is wanting to cooperate with the pointing rule.

Such a shame if it is true which seems very possible then surely he has mental health problems.

'innocent until proven guilty' is also an international human right under the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 11 so not just an Americanism.

More seriously, there is no jury system in Thailand. Judges alone decide cases (allegedly) based on the merits presented by the parties (defense vs prosecution).

See Siam-legal.com

It's not an issue of "public opinion" but of "judicial opinion." These re-enactments are directed towards influencing judges, ineffect making judges part of the prosecution.
