Thai media Daily News reported that the CCSA were considering grouping countries according to economic value and vaccine coverage as a means to deciding which ones' nationals will be allowed to come to Thailand without having to quarantine from November 1st.

Thirty eight countries are being considered. Of these:

1. 24 are in the European Union

2. Five are the Nordic countries of Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Iceland.

3. Others are Israel, Switzerland, UAE, the UK, the US, India, China, Qatar, Japan, and South Korea.

Earlier the Thai PM had stated that ten countries of low risk would be allowed quarantine free access from November 1st though only the UK, US, Singapore, Germany and China were mentioned by name.

Just wondering how they intend to solve the latest idea of a 1-day quarantine an PCR test, if tourists REALLY arrive in large numbers... imagine all the hotels who will have to accommodate thousands of tourists for 1 night only with all the cleaning requirements that the current covid situation requires for them... If I would be a hotel owner, I would NOT accept such tourists, except when the government pays me 2-3 nights for each tourist who stays 1 night for covid-checks. AND we need a new website with all the hotels who offer that service, I am pretty sure that all ASQ or SHA hotels are interested in that business

I would think all of them would be included from 1st november and new countries added weekly, to keep the momentum and international tourism attention.

To this list russia, malaysia should be included. They did contribute to thai tourism in large numbers.

As to those ASQ hotels for 1 night - they might be from the top shelf above $100 per night. Way above budget traveller. And what if test is inconclusive and you have to stay 2 nights

Somehow I feel it is darn difficult to visit Thailand. Make things easier if you really want people come.

If Thailand are struggling to choose which countries to come, why not stage a FIFA-style draw to decide, with each country's name hidden inside a ball?

To make it even more exciting, book your flight and hotel before the draw ????

The article states 38 countries but lists 39. No wonder this country is in such a mess

Non-Quarantine = Get off plane, go wherever I want.

Quarantine = Get off plane, forced into mandatory quarantine hotel, not allowed to leave until test is negative.

It is not quarantine free access unless they have dropped the test on arrival requirement.   It is possible I missed this announcement.   Have they dropped this?

To this list russia,

They've just announced the biggest daily numbers; have a poor vaccine take-up (probably because the vaccine ranks lower than the Chinese stuff?).  The Kremlin has, today, freed up air travel to all its millionaires.

They double counted Denmark as it's in the EU and a Nordic country.

FIFA style means corruption, so thai authorities are all for it.

Embassies, chambers of commerce will be handing out to prayuth swiss account numbers

Just think how much these asq hotels are going to charge if you HAVE to stay in one for one night, definitely no discounts off the rack rate.

Denmark and Sweden count twice  (EU and Nordic).

And Singapore vanished from the three point list (inplausible).

Interesting to learn which three EU countries will not be on the list?

Sweden ,Finland and Denmark is part of EU.

I guess that is why they only have 24 in the EU group.

Finland also, overlooked.

But: the original article in dailynews reads different.

Not like 1)+2)+3) = 38

The Nordic countries are grouped as lowest risk countries.

The USA is mentioned explicitely as "critical" with still high infection rates.

France is pointed out as EU country with the highest infection rate (?).

So this 38 countries is for consideration and might well shrink to my opinion.

Still no idea what happened to Singapore?

I can't read Thai so I didn't read the article.

Thanks for explaining.

Sounds reasonable the the Nordic now are grouped as low risk. High part of population vaccinated and few new cases.

Strange to see Australia not on the list

I doubt any Ozzies would come anyway.  They have to go through an expensive 14 day quarantine upon returning to Australia.

Quarantine to be totally scrapped (no hotel or home) in NSW from 1st of November for fully vaccinated:

You clearly are not up to date.

NSW today have scrapped all quarantine as from 1st of November.

Victoria will do the same in the coming days around the same time.

And the vast amount of international flights are from NSW and VIC.

For me it is....and Qantas just announced that it will start selling tickets for flights from 1st of November. Great news.

What about Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia?  As I said NSW (and Victoria) are not Australia.  Western Australia and Queensland are pretty anal about letting people in.

I too predict that things will sniffed this way or that way up or down comes so called Thailand's opening day be it in November or later, it seems that they themselves not sure yet what to do and how to Finlay and decisively go about it...

I can't see why Canada is not on the list, it has already double vaccinated 82% of the population and low death rates, and most of the deaths are from the unvaccinated people. Canada is way ahead of USA and the UK.

And its just not the Hotels.

What if a single passenger on a Flight tests positive, are all the other 300+ passengers going to be forced into a Covid prison ?

This is as many have already said going to be one large Faux Pas.
