The chief of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police said that he understands the frustrations of owners of businesses in the nighttime entertainment business, reported Bangkok Business News.

In the same breath Pol Lt-Gen Samran Nuanma said he would prosecute any establishment like bars, pubs and karaokes that opened.

Or any restaurant that didn't have SHA or TSC+ accreditation that served alcohol past 9 pm.

He reminded everyone that the penalties under Rule 45 sub-section 2.4 were a year in Thai prison and/or a fine of 100,000 baht.

Deputies and maj-gens Jirasan and Nitthithorn chipped in to back up the chief adding "sathan borigaan" to the list - the euphemism for places of prostitution.

Those restaurants allowed to open can only have 50% capacity in air-conditioning or 75% if open air.

The police reminded every owner to be aware of the rules, regulations and protocols lest they fall foul of the booze ban.

Health insurance plans that meet the long stay visa requirements

Hypocrisy and flaunting the law have long been trademarks of this outfit, but they are overreaching themselves quite magnificently when it comes to this matter!

Is there an underlying motive?

Perhaps they want to quite simply gain total control in of the whole scene?

How to bring happiness and reconciliation to the Thai people.

It has only taken 7 years to reach this point.

I would like to point out that none of this was written for the election or in the constitution.

it is going to be a very quiet NYE if you can not go anywhere to celebrate.

I thyink the reason for the closure has not hing to do with covid but a lot to do with being able to have a year that people can advertise less deaths on Thai roads.

It is to keep the drink and drive people happy and nothing else.

Wonder  how many hiso people will have parties at home

Yet some bars remain open in full view of the police yet remain full of customers every night...

maybe the owners have made a hefty donation, or have good connections.

if they had arrested just 25% of the people drinking this weekend in jomtien there wouldn't be enough room to lock em all up..cops just don't seem bothered  not just foreigners but hundreds of Thais openly out drinking i think people have just had enough of this BS

No, please give them free beer. Then they will stay there and don't close any other places.

Maybe he would like to show us an example of the harsh penalties he has thrown out to bad people ?

Some of these places have been raided 2-3 times , so obviously they didn’t get the letter about jail etc ????

My son showed me photos of the fireworks display this weekend, there wasn't an inch of space on the beaches etc. from what I could see, very few wearing masks, most swigging booze, he also showed me a video his mate sent him, full on party in a nightclub.................

Yet in theory you can't even have an alcoholic drink with a meal in a restaurant in Pattaya, total hypocrisy!

I really think people the world over are on the brink of total anarchy. If everybody sticks 2 fingers up to these outrageous non stop restrictions, what are they going to do? Lock up millions of good citizens who have simply had enough of being treated like irresponsible children? It's time to take our freedom back. Totally incompetent leaders the world over locking down our countries and taking away our rights to live our lives. We've taken the vaccines. We've worn masks for 2 years. We've not seen out families and loved ones for 2 years. The virus is here to stay so enough is enough.

Many bars are open & his staff organized in taking the envelopes from  them,

some of which will go up the food chain, so why the blatant fibs ???

Feel soooo much safer knowing they're on the beat off! ????

I'm warning the Thai government that I wont be going to Thailand

if they continue with this bollo's.

The Thai soldiers government are not interested in their own people, so why should they be interested in you? All they are interested in is their offshore bank accounts.

Don't dare violate Thailand's New Normal Prohibition!

We never eat cookies because they have yeast,
And one little bite turns a man to a beast.
Oh, can you imagine the utter disgrace
Of a man in the gutter with crumbs on his face?
