Please provide a link with empirical data.

Or are you just assuming all farang share your showering habits?

No need for insults, it's common knowledge.

Are you saying farang shower as many times as Thais or just being argumentative?

  • I was nearly beginning to think that things couldn’t get any worse in Thailand, until I read this.

  • Thank heavens I am leaving. I can't take much more of Thai politics.

  • This is NOT good news. Anutin is the same guy who was blaming "caucasians" for spreading Covid 19. His candidacy can only mean bad things for expats.

so it's him or drug minister thamanat from the ruling PPP.

I think thamanat will win, because has support of prawit and possibly thaksin.

Buriram chidchob mafia would put a lot of money into this election to secure more ministerial posts, but with some 80 MP they will always be a coalition party.

Unless PPP completely disintegrates from internal bickering between prawit and prayuth factions

He never actually said "dirty farang", this was made up by English gutter press.

he did say farang don't shower as much as Thais, which is true.

Wrong on both counts.

I’m not English but almost certainly would believe their press before I’d believe the Thai government controlled media, they are simply puppets and the BS Road fatality numbers and Covid numbers they report are solid proof of that

Do Thais shower 3 times a day? Most farang I know shower twice a day

Many Thais are Chinese.

ETHNIC Chinese.  The homegrown ones are acceptably Thai. Also the CHinese from Hong Kong are much different than mainland Chinese.

And just look what that intra-cultural diversity has done for them.

I am saying that if you wish to make silly generalizations with racist undertones you should have data to back them up.

Correct. You don't know me.

Racist?

Back to school Jonny. Pay attention and try and get yourself a C or a D this time.

OMG

with a track record like his how on earth is he still in office, the sheer arrogance of this self appointed ## is shocking

So Mighty Mouse is going to be the next Thai PM? At least he's better than our military coup leader.

Precisely. Look no further than the UK to see how a nation has become more impressed with Boris Johnson AFTER he got the job.

Unfortunately I'm not British, so I'm in doubt, I don't know if I shall ???? or ????

Yes, claiming that Caucasians (you even used a nickname to refer to this racial group) shower less frequently than another group is a racist comment.

It's like using a nickname for black people (I won't give you an example but I am sure you know a few) to say that they smell worse than another group. It's a stupid generalization and just because the insult is against Caucasians does not mean it is not racist.

PS I am fairly sure my educational qualifications would compare favourably to yours.

Saying foreigners showerless than Thais is not an insult(just like saying Americans look after their teeth more than Brits), it's just entitled wokers are too sensitive to comments like this. You are actually showing your reverse racism.

The abnormal is normal here regardless of whether he runs for PM or not.  Being a traveler to this place was more enjoyable…just like every other place where I wasn’t concerned about things like this.

It was at the start of the pandemic when 90% of Thai were wearing masks and 5% of farang were. He offered free masks to people and Thais accepted them, farang didn't. Of course he was upset.

Can you imagine Boris Johnston handing out free masks at Trafalgar Square and all muslims refused them, when others didn't?

Can you imagine if Trump handed out free masks in Times Square and all Latinos refused them?

Ever wonder where the phrases "farang kee nok" and "farang kee ngok" came from?

I have been a backpacker and lived on KSR for 6 months, so realize that many travellers/tourist jus look dirty with their dreadlocks and hippy clothes but to many Thais who are not experienced in World travel, they look dirty and unkept.

TBF , He isn't well known and most felangs wouldn't know who he was or recognize him and if a strange Thai guy stopped me in the street and wanted me to put something over my mouth and nose , I would refuse the offer , could have been some kind of scam or attempted drugging or something or the mask may even have been carrying the virus ,,

Anyway, I would have refused one as well

You didn't say foreigners, you said farangs which is a nickname for a race of people (Caucasians).

Just own it and try to improve yourself. Racism is ugly in all it's forms (yes, even when it is against Caucasians).

the really sad thing is that he has not already been sacked and thus must be considered to be ok by many thai's.

A Nut sums him up nicely.

Whatever Thais may think of him, whether they consider he is OK or not, matters not. It is not as if, now democracy has been "reformed", they will get any meaningful say in it!

These words are interchangeable here. Many farang use 'farang' when talking about foreigners, most Thais do.

What are you talking about, I'm not racist. Please quote where  where have have given any indication that I am?

You are being rude an insulting as you know you are wrong .

No they don't. No Thai would ever refer to a black African as a farang. Nor would they refer to someone from another Asian country as a farang. It refers to Caucasians and you know it.

So he's "ready", huh?

But... will the Thai people be ready for HIM?

If he pursues that big goal, Thailand is on her best way to become a true hub at last... the global hub of inept prime ministers.

Mind you, the country already has been a serious contender for decades, looking back at a long series of "world-class" incompetents as government leaders..

But with Anutin at the helm, the "hub scales" might finally tip in Thailand's favor as he is going to make ex-PMs like Chavalit and Banharn look like amateurs.

Indeed.

Plus, from memory, they were unsealed masks from his bare hands ... I'd have declined too.

You have a lot to learn about Thai culture then. If a Cabinet Minister, or anyone that influential offers you something, you accept, you certainly don't walk past them and say nothing. There is a strict hierarchical social structure here.

You can keep your Western attitude, and refuse to comply, integrate, and assimilate(like Muslims in the UK) but then you can't complain if Thais criticize you , Jeez.

And ironically, it's the Brits here that don't assimilate that are usually the ones that complain about how minorities don't integrate into their old culture.

Nope, we don't need this... with him at the helm wonder what the "dirty farang" health insurance requirements and extension requirements may change to.........

How does that apply to the tourists that refused masks?

Surely visitors to Thailand are not expected to understand complex cultural nuances?
